(CLO) Billionaire Elon Musk has promised to give away $1 million a day through a sweepstakes to lucky people who sign an online petition supporting Donald Trump, from October 19 until the election in November.
Elon Musk said America Pac - the political action committee supporting Mr Trump - will spend $1 million every day until election day to give away to anyone who signs his petition.
Elon Musk's pledge began on October 19 when he handed a $1 million check to someone who attended his event in Pennsylvania, which was aimed at rallying supporters of Republican candidate Donald Trump.
The payment is the latest example of Musk using his vast wealth to influence the presidential race between Trump and Democratic challenger Kamala Harris. If Musk remains the sole donor to America Pac, he will have to pay $17 million by election day.

America Pac’s petition encourages voters to register to vote for Trump in order to be entered into a $1 million sweepstakes. Attendees at the Pennsylvania event on October 19 were required to sign a petition, allowing America PAC to collect contact information for more potential voters.
The petition does not require signers to be Republicans. Any Democrat registered to vote in Pennsylvania can sign.
At the event, Musk encouraged supporters to vote early and urged others to do the same. He said that if Harris won, this would be the “last election,” implying that America would no longer exist.
The petition Musk asked people to sign reads: "The First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. By signing below, I pledge my support for the First and Second Amendments."
Musk has founded America PAC, a political action group supporting Mr. Trump’s campaign. The group is helping mobilize and register voters in battleground states.
Billionaire Elon Musk, ranked by Forbes as the world's richest person, has so far given at least $75 million to America PAC, according to federal government disclosures.
The entrepreneur behind carmaker Tesla and rocket-satellite venture SpaceX has increasingly aligned with the Republican Party, becoming a vocal supporter of Mr Trump this year. Mr Trump has said that if elected, he would appoint Musk to head the government efficiency commission.
