Linking tourism development to create regional image and brand
Attending the workshop were Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le The Chu - Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper, along with the participation of nearly 150 guests including representatives of the People's Committee, Tourism Association and Department of Tourism of provinces and cities in the Southeast region such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc.
The program is also accompanied by Saigon Tourist Corporation Saigontourist Group and tourism businesses belonging to the Southeast Tourism Associations Group (STA).
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province affirmed that cooperation and association in developing regional and regional tourism economy not only brings benefits to tourism development for each locality but also supports and supplements tourism products for each other, creating complete product and service chains.
Thereby, it also creates opportunities for localities in the region to exchange and support training and development of human resources, create high-quality tourism products with unique characteristics, and create a common image and brand for the whole region.
The leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also affirmed that this province has a sea tourism product with its own identity, creating a difference, and at the same time, it is also a supporting tourism product for localities in the region.
"Strengthening linkage activities in the process of developing local tourism as well as linkages between Ba Ria - Vung Tau and other localities in the spirit of Resolution No. 24/2022 of the Politburo on developing the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, is a necessary direction at present," said Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh.
Advice on finding a new path for Southeast tourism
At the workshop, leaders of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Tourism Association, leaders of tourism companies presented papers, together with experts in tourism - culture - cuisine, tourism, aviation, travel and accommodation businesses discussed proposals and solutions to develop Ba Ria - Vung Tau tourism to effectively connect with the Southeast region, in the context of many changes in tourism infrastructure.
Opening the discussion, Mr. Pham Ngoc Hai, Chairman of the Tourism Association of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Head of the Southeast Tourism Associations (STA) Group pointed out the difficulties, current situation and proposed solutions for planning and developing local tourism in the coming time.
Besides, representing the leading tourism enterprise, Saigontourist gave suggestions, proposals and solutions to develop tourism in Ba Ria - Vung Tau connecting with the Southeast region.
From the perspective of an expert in in-depth research on Vietnam tourism, Mr. Dang Manh Phuoc, CEO of Outbox Company, has made assessments on the growth and important characteristics of the high-end tourist market in Vietnam. As well as the advantages and opportunities of Ba Ria - Vung Tau in attracting high-end tourists in particular and the Southeast region in general. Accordingly, he proposed initiatives to improve the competitiveness of Ba Ria - Vung Tau towards becoming a high-end tourism center of the Southeast region.
At the discussion session of the workshop, the visual comparison between the Ho Chi Minh City - Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the Southeast provinces tourist route with the tourist route to Bangkok - Pattaya City of Thailand raised many topic groups for the guests to discuss.
In particular, tourism in Ba Ria - Vung Tau in particular and the Southeast region in general needs to diversify products and improve service quality so that tourists can increase their experience time and spend more on entertainment, culinary, shopping, tourist gifts, etc.
Representatives of leaders and Departments of Tourism of provinces and cities in the Southeast region also proposed mechanisms and policies to develop local and regional tourism. Along with that, experts and tourism businesses also contributed to the lively discussion with new tourism products, which are trends such as high-end tourism segments: health tourism, resort tourism, Mice, etc.
To partly realize the cooperation in developing tourism in the Southeast region, at the workshop, tourism businesses in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the provinces of Ben Tre, Binh Phuoc, and Tay Ninh joined hands to sign a cooperation agreement to promote, build and develop inter-regional tourism products.
In the first 6 months of 2023, there were about 7 million visitors to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, an increase of more than 17% over the same period. Of which, the total number of overnight visitors is estimated at over 2.2 million, the total revenue from tourists in the first 6 months of 2023 of Ba Ria - Vung Tau is estimated at over 7,000 billion VND.
To date, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has attracted 133 tourism investment projects, of which 50 projects have been completed and put into operation with diverse and unique product types, suitable for the international tourism market.
