Dong Nai asks for investment in Bien Hoa airport project

On October 28, information from the People's Committee of Dong Nai province said that it had sent a document to the Prime Minister assigning the Provincial People's Committee to be the competent state agency to implement the investment project of Bien Hoa airport.

In the document, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province said that according to Resolution No. 154 of the Government promulgating the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 24 of the Politburo, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province is assigned as the agency in charge of implementing the project to upgrade Bien Hoa airport into a level 4E dual-use airport.

In order to soon put civil aviation into operation at Bien Hoa airport, contribute to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring local defense and security, and to provide the locality with a basis to implement the next steps, the Provincial People's Committee reports to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval to assign the Provincial People's Committee as the competent state agency to implement the Bien Hoa airport project.

The early opening of Bien Hoa airport for civil aviation is extremely necessary, creating great conditions for the economic and social development of Dong Nai province.

Previously, in June, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed a decision approving the master plan for the development of the national airport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Of which, Bien Hoa airport and Thanh Son airport (Ninh Thuan province) are planned for dual-use exploitation.

Bien Hoa Airport, when fully operational, will have a capacity to serve 5 million passengers per year in the 2021-2030 period. Dong Nai province is currently completing procedures to establish a Steering Committee for the construction of Bien Hoa dual-use airport.
