The Vietnamese team returned to compete at Thien Truong Stadium after 16 years in a friendly match with the Syrian team on the evening of June 20.
On June 13, a working delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation led by General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi had a working session with departments and branches of Nam Dinh province to agree on a plan to organize a friendly match between the Vietnam team and the Syria team.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province, said: “In 2007, Thien Truong Stadium was honored to be the venue for the match between the Vietnam Olympic team and the Lebanon Olympic team in the 2008 Beijing Olympic qualifying round. Since then, after 16 years, Thien Truong Stadium has had the opportunity to welcome the Vietnam team to compete again.”
“Nam Dinh fans are very excited and looking forward to the match of the Vietnam team. We are determined to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Football Federation to successfully organize the match, thereby also contributing to promoting and introducing to domestic and international friends the cultural identity and fair-play spirit of the Vietnamese people,” Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung affirmed.
On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation, General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and professionalism in the implementation of the match organization of the local organizing committee, especially the active participation and direction of the leaders of Nam Dinh province, leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Nam Dinh province. General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi believes that the friendly match between the Vietnam team and the Syria team will become a meaningful festival for football fans in the South in particular and the whole country in general.
According to the plan, the Vietnam team will open ticket sales for this match on June 16 with 3 prices: 50,000, 200,000 and 300,000 VND/ticket. It is predicted that the demand to go to Thien Truong Stadium to watch the Vietnam team's match will increase very high.
