Product innovation to attract tourists

In recent times, developing new tourism products and improving the quality of tourism products continue to be identified as one of the key solutions that Huu Lung district has implemented to attract tourists.

Many tourism products in Huu Lung (Lang Son province) have been diversified and innovated, creating a positive effect, attracting the attention of tourists. Ms. Le Khanh Linh, a tourist from Bac Giang, said: Through social networking sites, I learned about the attractive agricultural tourism experience at the Xu Lang Agricultural Tourism Cooperative (HTX), in Dong Tan commune, Huu Lung district. Here, I not only enjoy the fresh air but also experience gardening, pick strawberries and enjoy special culinary dishes.

It is known that Xu Lang Agricultural Tourism Cooperative is a new tourist destination that has been in operation since 2022 in Dong Tan commune. Mr. Nguyen Minh Anh, Director of the Cooperative, said: With an area of ​​more than 3 hectares, the Cooperative has invested more than 1 billion VND to build a fishing lake for services; built a system of 4 greenhouses to grow black grapes, strawberries and melons to serve the needs of tourists. To create a beautiful landscape to attract visitors, the Cooperative also built concrete roads connecting the sightseeing areas in the campus; invested in more miniature landscapes with strong regional identity for tourists to sightsee and take souvenir photos. In addition, the Cooperative also built stilt houses to serve the resting needs of tourists...

In addition to the Xu Lang Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, Dong Tan Commune currently has Dong Tan Agricultural Products Cooperative with attractive experiential services. Each month, the cooperatives in the commune attract from 500 to 1,000 visitors to visit and experience.

Agricultural ecotourism in Dong Tan commune is just one of many tourism products that Huu Lung district has encouraged to develop in recent times. In particular, the district is expanding the development of ecological tourism products in the communes of Cai Kinh, Hoa Lac, Yen Son, Yen Thinh... In addition to agricultural ecotourism, the district also encourages people and businesses to develop cultural tourism and resort tourism.

Mr. Khong Hong Minh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Huu Lung district, said: In the past, the department has advised the district People's Committee to direct the implementation of promotion and investment attraction for tourism development. At the same time, coordinate with specialized units to survey, develop new tourism products and improve the quality of key tourism products in the area; form tours and tourist routes; invest in infrastructure development at tourist destinations...

Accordingly, from 2022 to present, the District People's Committee has supported funding to develop the traditional herbal bath model of the Dao people in Huu Lien commune; organized a class to teach traditional performing arts skills to 45 students who are people working in tourism in Huu Lien and Yen Thinh communes. Thereby, 2 traditional performing arts teams were established in 2 community tourism villages, currently the 2 performing arts teams are maintaining good performance activities to serve tourists.

At the same time, the district has introduced households with potential to develop into tourist destinations to travel companies and tourism businesses to link tours.

Along with the formation of new products, the district also pays attention to investing, upgrading and promoting the recognized tourist attractions in the area. Typical examples include promoting the construction of a dossier to recognize Huu Lien Community Tourism Village as meeting ASEAN standards, building Nong Dung Lake tourist destination to become a provincial tourist destination... The district also regularly organizes training courses on civilized tourist conduct and training courses on tourism operations to increase the quality of tourism products.

In particular, on October 25 and 26, Huu Lung district will organize the Dong Lam grassland festival. The festival will be held in Dong Lam, Nong Dung lake, Huu Lien commune. Thereby, it aims to promote and introduce the potential, advantages of tourism and investment attraction policies of Lang Son province in general and Huu Lung district in particular.

Thanks to practical solutions, the number of tourists coming to Huu Lung has increased gradually every year. In 2023, the number of tourists reached 680,000 (an increase of 33% compared to 2022); in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole district attracted 777,000 visitors (an increase of more than 30% compared to the same period in 2023), with tourism revenue estimated at 234 billion VND.

With efforts in innovating and diversifying tourism products as well as innovating tourism promotion and advertising, we believe that Huu Lung is gradually becoming an attractive destination for tourists.
