SOS Children's Village Hue was formerly a non-public social protection facility called Thuy Xuan Children's Protection Center.
Since 2015, based on the agreement between SOS Vietnam, the current sponsor of the Center, the Provincial People's Committee (now Hue City) issued a decision to change the center's name to SOS Hue Village and transfer the Village to SOS Vietnam, becoming the 17th SOS Children's Village in the SOS Children's Villages Vietnam system.
SOS Children's Village Hue (Village) is a place to care for and nurture orphaned, abandoned or disadvantaged children. From the "family house" model, where each group of children is cared for by an SOS mother like a real family, to educational, medical and cultural programs, the Village has created a living space that is both warm and loving, scientific and professional.
Information at the meeting showed that, in recent times, the Village has actively coordinated with organizations and unions inside and outside the city to create conditions for children to participate in major programs such as "Children's Day", "Children's Day", "Journey of Love"... Thereby, not only creating a healthy playground but also helping children integrate and connect with society - which is especially important for disadvantaged children.
According to the Department of Health's report, the Village is currently caring for and raising 58 orphaned, abandoned or extremely disadvantaged children, of which 50 children are living in 6 family homes and 8 children are studying at universities, colleges and vocational schools in other localities.
At the meeting, the city leaders acknowledged the wishes of Professor Tran Thanh Van. Professor Tran Thanh Van wishes to continue to maintain and develop the care and nurturing model at the Village in accordance with the original humane and sustainable spirit. With his love and responsibility for children in special circumstances, the Professor wishes to continue to maintain and develop the care and nurturing model at the Village in accordance with the original humane and sustainable spirit. The Professor expressed his wish to receive the Village back and hopes to accompany the Hue City government in caring for future generations, contributing to building a fair, humane and sustainable society.
