Veterans feel rejuvenated when revisiting the Independence Palace

The place chosen by many domestic and foreign tourists to visit during the historic April 30 holiday is the Independence Palace - Reunification Hall. A continuous stream of cars entered and exited the gate, while the grounds of the Palace were packed with people. Although it was a hot and humid midday in Ho Chi Minh City, everyone took the opportunity to visit and take pictures to preserve memories.

Among the crowd visiting the Independence Palace, there were many veterans who fought and entered with the liberation army on the historic day of April 30, 49 years ago, and now had the opportunity to revisit the old battlefield.

Mr. Tran Quang Vuong, 75 years old, from Nam Dinh, said that he used to fight in the 305th Division, a special forces soldier, and now visiting Ho Chi Minh City again, he is very happy and excited about the rapid change: "I feel overwhelmed with emotions, remembering the old days when we fought and liberated this Saigon land. I find today very solemn and respectful, seeing the bustling Saigon land, with many innovations. I am 75 years old this year, but visiting the battlefield again makes me feel like I am a few years younger."

A very special feature is that today, there are also many students who come to the Independence Palace to pay tribute and remember the previous generations who lived and fought for the country to be what it is today. Do Thai Nghia, a student at Van Hien University, who is going with a group of friends, said that before going to the Palace, they had just visited the War Remnants Museum: "Today, I chose to go to the Independence Palace to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs and learn about the achievements that the heroes left for us today."

Many crowded places

In addition to the Independence Palace, other locations such as the War Remnants Museum (District 3), the headquarters of the People's Council - People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the City Post Office, Book Street, the Zoo (District 1), Suoi Tien Tourist Area (Thu Duc City), Dam Sen Cultural Park (District 11)... are crowded with people and tourists to visit and have fun. During the holidays, all units have special programs, attracting more tourists.

According to records, even though it was a hot noon, the Zoo was packed with people. Mr. Do Van Viet, a resident of Tan Phu district, said that taking advantage of the holiday, he and his wife took their child out: "Today, I took my wife and child to the Zoo to see bonsai trees and other things so that they could explore Vietnamese history and culture. It's hot today, but it's even hotter at home, so we went out to learn more."

In addition to entertainment venues, tonight, residents and tourists will also enjoy a special performance program "Epic Resounds Forever" on Nguyen Hue Street (District 1). Tomorrow afternoon, people can gather on Le Duan Street (in front of the Independence Palace) to watch the final round of the 36th HTV "Non Song Lien Mot Dai" cycling race.

In particular, at 9:00 p.m. on April 30, there will be a high-altitude fireworks display at the beginning of the Saigon River tunnel (Thu Duc City) and a number of other low-altitude fireworks displays throughout the area./.
