Thai Hoa Palace where 13 Nguyen Dynasty kings were crowned after restoration

(Dan Tri) - After the restoration process, the Thai Hoa Palace relic inside the Hue Imperial City is preparing to reopen to visitors, with its magnificent and majestic appearance.
Thai Hoa Palace (in the middle) is one of the most important structures of the Hue Imperial Citadel. The palace is considered a symbol of the Nguyen Dynasty's authority, the coronation place of the last 13 kings of Vietnam's feudal dynasty, from Gia Long to Bao Dai. Thai Hoa Palace began construction in 1805 under King Gia Long and underwent many completions and renovations by other emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty. After hundreds of years of existence, Thai Hoa Palace has become a witness to the ups and downs of national history. Thai Hoa Palace during the great flood that occurred in November 2017. Having gone through many historical events, under the impact of time, war, and harsh climate, the structure has seriously degraded and is at risk of needing to be rescued. In April 2022, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center dismantled this important palace to carry out a restoration project with a total cost of nearly 129 billion VND from the state budget. The overall conservation and restoration project of Thai Hoa Palace relic includes many items such as: Preservation, restoration, and restoration of the wooden load-bearing structure system, roof, wall, and floor systems; preservation, restoration, and detailed restoration of exterior and interior decorations of the building. According to the original plan, the Thai Hoa Palace restoration project was to be completed in August 2025. However, with the efforts of the heritage conservation team, the project was completed 9 months ahead of schedule. On November 23, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province officially announced the completion of the project to preserve and restore the Thai Hoa Palace, opening it to visitors. At this important event , the Hue Monuments Conservation Center recreated the court ceremony through a theatrical form, bringing the majestic and solemn atmosphere of a glorious dynasty.

Many antiques are displayed inside Thai Hoa Palace after the project was completed and opened to visitors. The roof of Thai Hoa Palace is covered with royal glazed tiles and decorated with vivid patterns and majestic mascots.
