Proposal to increase container loading and unloading service price by 10-15%

The Vietnam Seaport Association (VPA), Shipping Agents and Brokers (VISABA) and Ship Owners (VSA) have just sent a petition to the Ministry of Construction and the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration regarding the adjustment of container loading and unloading service prices at deep-water ports.

According to seaport enterprises, the current floor price is lower than the region, affecting the efficiency of exploitation and investment. Although sea transport costs have decreased thanks to deep-water ports, Vietnamese cargo owners still have to pay high THC fees to shipping lines while ports charge lower fees.

Deep-water container port areas such as Lach Huyen and Cai Mep-Thi Vai have attracted large vessels, helping to reduce transportation costs and improve competitiveness. This not only promotes economic development but also improves national logistics efficiency.

The associations proposed to increase container handling service prices by 10-15% in the second quarter of 2025. This will help port enterprises have more resources to upgrade infrastructure, meet digitalization and greening requirements in the direction of sustainable development. At the same time, the pricing method needs to be more flexible, avoiding costly and time-consuming appraisal requirements.
