The total number of candidates registered for the National Excellent Student Exam for the 2023-2024 school year is 5,819, an increase of 1,230 candidates compared to the 2022-2023 school year. Of the total 12 subjects of this exam, Literature and English are the subjects with the most candidates, with 648 and 639 candidates respectively. The exam will have 68 Examination Councils with a total of 403 examination rooms.
The exam content is included in the 2006 High School Education Program and guidelines for implementing the specialized program of high school subjects.
This is the first school year that the Ministry of Education and Training has applied new regulations on the national excellent student exam. The notable new point is that localities are allowed to increase the number of students taking the exam in each subject, and the winning rate of the exam has also increased compared to the previous school year.
Specifically, each participating unit can register a maximum of 10 candidates for each team, while Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can register a maximum of 20 candidates for each team.
In addition, instead of organizing a practical exam in the national exam for excellent students, the exam questions for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will have content that requires candidates to solve using knowledge related to experimental and practical skills.
