Promoting folk dance and sports activities associated with preserving national culture

To celebrate the country's major holidays and promote the nation's cultural traditions, the Provincial Women's Union (VWU) has launched many exciting folk dance and sports activities, attracting a large number of members to participate. The activities not only contribute to improving spiritual life and improving health, but also create community cohesion and preserve traditional cultural identity.

In celebration of International Women's Day March 8 and in response to Ao Dai Week launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Provincial Women's Union organized a folk dance performance in Ao Dai and national costumes; a parade in response to "Ao Dai Week". The event was attended by over 1,500 officials and members, including many honorary male members. This activity created a strong ripple effect, encouraging women and men to actively participate in the local folk dance movement.

Not only at the provincial level, the Women's Unions of districts and bases also organize exchanges and folk dance performances in traditional ethnic costumes or ao dai, contributing to affirming and preserving the beauty of local culture. Typically, the Women's Union of Lac Son district mobilized 2,050 members to participate in folk dance performances in ao dai and Muong skirts. This is an outstanding activity, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and national pride, contributing to honoring the traditional beauty of Muong women in Hoa Binh.

Ms. Bui Thi Thao, a member of the Women's Union of Lac Son district, shared: "I am very proud to join the women in the whole district in the Muong ethnic costume performance at two major events: welcoming the new year 2025 with 1,500 women and celebrating International Women's Day on March 8 with 2,025 women. This is not only a meaningful activity to honor the beauty of traditional costumes, but also shows the spirit of solidarity and connection of women in the district. The memorable moments are not only the graceful steps in the dance, the colorful skirts and shirts, but also the bright smiles and joy of all women's union members. The impressive thing is that these images are preserved and spread strongly on media platforms, inspiring women in grassroots associations, encouraging them to be more confident and proud of the cultural identity of their people."

In addition, in response to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", the Provincial Women's Union organized a volleyball tournament for Women's Union officials at all levels with the participation of 12 teams. In addition, 5/10 district-level units organized women's volleyball tournaments, 2/10 units organized district-level women's football tournaments. The Union at all levels actively maintained and established many new sports clubs such as: 364 folk dance clubs; 256 volleyball clubs; 64 dance teams. Through the activities of the clubs, the Union integrated communication organizations to improve knowledge and life skills, helping members improve their health and have the opportunity to exchange and share experiences in life and work.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lan, Luong Son District Volleyball Club, said: "I feel healthier since joining the Volleyball Club. This is a useful playground that gives us the opportunity to exercise, meet and exchange life experiences. Thanks to that, my spirit is also more excited."

In addition to sports activities, the Women's Union at all levels focuses on preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the Muong ethnic group. The province has established over 60 models of clubs to preserve ethnic culture with the participation of over 1,850 members. Typical clubs include: Muong gong, Muong folk singing, "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Muong ethnic group"... The Union also regularly organizes media exchange nights, shows of ethnic costumes and cooking competitions with traditional dishes of the Muong ethnic group. These activities not only help preserve cultural beauty, but also create a useful playground, attracting the attention of the younger generation, helping them understand and love traditional values.

Folk dance, physical education and sports activities combined with preserving national culture organized by the Women's Union at all levels have contributed to improving the quality of spiritual life in the community. At the same time, they help orient the younger generation in absorbing modern values ​​in an appropriate way, practicing ethics, healthy lifestyles, and preserving national cultural identity.
