The General Secretary's mark on the cultural industry

During his lifetime, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had much affection and concern for artists and directed the development of cultural industries in Vietnam.

He successfully inherited and developed the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh and the Party in the two "Dien Hong conferences" on culture in 1946 and 1948.

On November 24, 1946, at the first National Cultural Conference held in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh put forward the argument that "culture must light the way for the nation to go".

Two years later, the second National Cultural Conference took place in Phu Tho when the whole country was in a long period of resistance against France, clearly outlining the content and destination of "the culture of the new Vietnam".

Exactly 75 years later, on November 24, 2021, the third National Cultural Conference took place in Hanoi under the chairmanship of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In his opening speech, he used the words "joy" and "excited" to describe his feelings.

One of the three reasons he said was that it had been 75 years, since November 24, 1946, since there had been a national conference on culture on such a large scale.

The General Secretary said: "Culture is the soul of the nation, expressing the identity of the nation. As long as culture exists, the nation exists...".

In it, he mentioned Resolution 33 and emphasized the new task of building culture in politics and economics, developing cultural industries and perfecting the cultural market.

According to the General Secretary, after nearly 40 years of renovation, the cause of social, cultural and human development has achieved many important results. However, there are "many shortcomings, limitations and weaknesses, negatively affecting socio-economic development, human development and cultural environment".

He had special instructions on building, preserving and developing Vietnamese culture with traditional and modern elements, identity and integration, creating endogenous resources and mobilizing the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in nation building.

For culture to truly "light the way for the nation" as Uncle Ho taught, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has outlined many constructive arguments such as strongly arousing patriotism, self-reliance, solidarity, aspiration to develop the country, building Vietnamese people in the period of innovation, development, and integration with cultural values, values of the nation - people.

He also noted the comprehensive and synchronous development of fields, environment and cultural life.

The General Secretary also did not forget to mention the building of a cultural environment in the context of Industrial Revolution Fourth. Urgently develop cultural industries and build a healthy cultural market.

He stated that the culture we are building is an advanced culture, imbued with national identity, with the core content being national independence and socialism.

There, people are the subject, holding the central position in the development strategy; cultural development and human development are both the goal and the driving force of innovation; education - training and science - technology development are the top national policies.

He mentioned that in the process of building and developing culture led by the Party, the intellectual team plays an important role.

"His instructions are still there"

Through the confidences of many artists, it is easy to see that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has special feelings for artists.

Ms. Pham Hong Tuyen - daughter of musician Pham Tuyen - said that 12 years ago, before Tet, the family was informed that the General Secretary would visit the musician.

By noon, the delegation had arrived almost in the afternoon. The family assumed that at that time, the awarding ceremony would be held. Ho Chi Minh Prize Musician Pham Tuyen's work is attracting the attention of the media and press, so this visit was made.

In a warm and intimate atmosphere, the General Secretary wished the musician and his family good health in the new year, and continued to contribute their efforts, intelligence and talent to the people and the country. The Party and State always respect and appreciate the great contributions of intellectuals to the common achievements of the country.

At that time, musician Pham Tuyen was very happy to have the opportunity to give his father's (scholar Pham Quynh) book to the General Secretary.

He was excited during the following Tet holidays. A few months later, Pham Tuyen was officially awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize.

Ms. Tuyen said that until now, "the family still thinks that the General Secretary's visit had a significant impact on this matter, and is always grateful."

Ms. Duong Cam Thuy - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association - told Tuoi Tre that in 2019 the association produced a multi-episode documentary film about the Party Committee, government, and people of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City: 50 years of implementing Uncle Ho's will.

The General Secretary gave many profound comments about the film. Ms. Thuy said: "He is gone but his thoughts are still there, the tasks he assigned, his instructions are still there."

Ms. Thuy said she agreed with the General Secretary's statements. For example, we currently lack large, prestigious cultural, literary and artistic works; the cultural environment is still polluted; the gap in cultural enjoyment between regions is still large...

Relating the General Secretary's instructions on cultural industry development to the context of Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Thuy said that the city has a development strategy but putting it into practice requires many factors.

For the film industry alone, hearing that the estimated amount of money needed to develop the film industry could be up to thousands of billions of dong would make anyone feel discouraged. But if done well, it will also bring in a lot of money.

According to her, the city must have a plan for cinema development in the near future. This includes plans for training human resources, building technical facilities, utilizing state investment capital and capital from the people, linking with tourism, diplomacy, etc.

National Assembly Delegate Bui Hoai Son shared with Tuoi Tre that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave important instructions at the National Cultural Conference on November 24, 2021, to implement the 13th National Party Congress resolution on the cultural field.

The General Secretary was very concerned about the lack of literary and artistic works that demonstrate the stature of the country's Renovation cause.
