(Dan Tri) - Many medical schools have high entrance scores but do not have excellent graduates, and there are also few good students. On the contrary, many schools have low entrance scores but many students graduate with excellent or good grades.
More than 700 top medical students graduate, none of them are outstanding
Despite the extremely high entrance scores, there are no outstanding graduates or extremely rare ones in the health sector in many long-standing and large-scale medical schools in the country.
Considered the largest medical training unit in the country attracting many excellent students, all 722 new medical doctors at Hanoi Medical University who just received their graduation certificates this year did not have any excellent graduates.

The whole school has 11.3% of medical students graduating with honors, students graduating with good grades account for nearly 70%; the rest are average or average-good graduates.
This is the 2018 enrollment period, the medical majors at Hanoi Medical University have a standard score of 24.75, the valedictorian that year scored 29.8 points.
Previously, according to the 2022 graduation ranking results of Hanoi Medical University, there were no excellent students out of a total of 1,128 students awarded degrees, with good students accounting for 7.7%.
The graduating class of 2023 - the class of students with a record high entrance score at Hanoi Medical University with 29.25 points - a series of majors do not have excellent graduates such as nursing, public health, and ophthalmology.
Some majors only have 1 or 2 excellent graduates such as traditional medicine doctor, traditional medicine doctor, preventive medicine doctor, medical testing, nutrition...
At the graduation ceremony at the end of last year of the Faculty of Medicine - now the University of Health Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - there were 132 medical graduates, but there were no excellent students, the good graduates accounted for only more than 6%.
In total, 187 students graduated from both majors (medicine and pharmacy) at this unit, only 10.7% graduated with honors.

In the 2022 graduation of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 358 students were recognized as graduating as medical doctors, with only one student graduating with distinction.
This year's graduation, the school's excellent medical doctor graduates increased, but only 3 students, accounting for 0.84% of the total 366 new doctors. The excellent graduation rate was 18.77%.
The leader of a public medical school explained that the lack of excellent graduates in medical schools stems from the evaluation and assessment in health training. The evaluation focuses on working ability rather than on grades.
In addition, the assessment requires many factors besides knowledge, including a series of practical skills, professionalism, attitude, professional capacity... so it is not easy for students to achieve the maximum level.
However, the rare rate of excellent students does not mean that graduates do not have good professional skills and expertise...
The lower the school's entrance score, the more... excellent the output.
In complete contrast to long-standing schools with high entrance scores and shrinking output, new private universities participating in medical training have low entrance scores but excellent output.
At Duy Tan University, according to the summary of the number of graduates in the public report for the 2023-2024 school year, the number of students in the VI major (including medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and dentistry) graduating with honors accounted for 5.08%, with good grades accounted for 21.95%, and with fair grades accounted for 62.69%.

Thus, only 9 students graduated with less than excellent results.
This is the class of students admitted in 2018 to the school with the standard score for the dental profession being 19 points.
At Hong Bang University, in the graduation of nearly 1,000 new doctors, pharmacists, and new health faculty members last July, 4.2% of students graduated with honors and 29% with honors.
Among the 391 students awarded medical and pharmaceutical degrees this time, 80 students were recognized as excellent and good.

According to the leaders of Hong Bang University, to ensure the quality of dental training, the school is investing in a modern practice room system for dental students to practice.
The training process combines clinical practice, students participate in internships and specialized practice at hospitals. They also participate in study abroad to improve their skills and practice their expertise.
