According to the reporter's records in the area in front of house number 16 The Giao street (Hai Ba Trung district), a tree about 5m high, 40cm in diameter, is dead, the trunk is infested with termites, the bark is peeling. Ms. Le Van Tuong, who lives in this area, said that this tree has been dead for 6-7 years, and her family's shop was once hit by a broken branch. "The stormy season is coming, this tree is at risk of falling and breaking, posing a danger to passersby and residents living here," Ms. Tuong shared.

On the sidewalk in front of house number 24 Hue Street (Hai Ba Trung District), a 30m tall soapberry tree (as tall as the 6-story house next door) has suddenly shed its leaves for many days now, suspected of being "suffocated".
Hue street has a large traffic volume every day, if a dry tree falls it will be dangerous for road users.
The rain tree is losing its leaves, a sign of drying up and dying.
Also on Hue Street, in front of house number 56B, there is a tree about 10m high that has died and dried, the bark is peeling and has not been cut down.
Local residents said that the trees have shown signs of drying up since 2021 and have reported the matter to the local authorities but have yet to see any action from the authorities. “This area has a high population density and high traffic volume. Such dry, dead trees are really dangerous, especially when the rainy and stormy season is coming,” said Long, a local resident.

A representative of Hanoi Green Parks and Trees Company Limited said that on average, each year, about 300 trees die in Hanoi's inner city area.

“According to regulations, if a dead tree is found, after completing the procedures, the company will immediately handle it and replant a new tree. Trees that have been dead for a long time and have not been handled are trees that show signs of being damaged. The company will cut these trees down to ensure safety while waiting for verification,” said the representative.
