Reasons why 2 Deputy Directors of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan province were temporarily suspended from work

The Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) of Binh Thuan province has just signed a decision to temporarily suspend the work of two deputy directors of the department due to being prosecuted and investigated in relation to violations occurring at Hung Thinh Mineral Investment Group Joint Stock Company.

Today (February 8), a source from VietNamNet said that Mr. Cao Son Dung, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan province, has just signed a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Phan Thi Xuan Thu and Mr. Ngo Minh Thanh, both deputy directors of this department.

In addition to the two deputies above, Mr. Le Trung Khanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Water Resources and Minerals of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan province, was also temporarily suspended from work.

The above decision was made after the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency issued a decision to prosecute the accused and a ban on leaving their place of residence for these 3 people since mid-January, due to their involvement in violations that occurred at Hung Thinh Mineral Investment Group Joint Stock Company (abbreviated as Hung Thinh Company).

Previously, in October 2024, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency coordinated with Binh Thuan Provincial Police to conduct an emergency search of Hung Thinh Company to verify and investigate signs of violations of regulations on research, exploration, exploitation of resources and smuggling related to titanium mining.

In early November 2024, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency initiated a criminal case of violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences; Violating regulations on research, exploration and exploitation of natural resources occurring at Hung Thinh Company and related units.

At the same time, prosecute and apply preventive measures against 9 defendants, including Mr. Phan Thanh Muon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Thinh Company.

Disciplinary action against Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Department of Natural Resources and Environment for land violations

In addition to the Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Thuan province being demoted, the Director of this department was also disciplined with a reprimand.
