(NLDO) - Considered the "green lung" of Quy Nhon City, Thi Nai lagoon is the largest saltwater lagoon in Binh Dinh province with a rich ecosystem and many beautiful landscapes.

About 8 km northeast of Quy Nhon city, Thi Nai lagoon has an area of over 5,000 hectares, located in 4 wards and communes of Quy Nhon city and 4 communes of Tuy Phuoc district.
The highlight of Thi Nai lagoon is its biodiversity, with a vast green mangrove ecosystem and long canals spreading everywhere. Of which, the most prominent is Thi Nai bridge with a length of more than 2,477m. This is the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam with 54 spans, connecting Quy Nhon city with Nhon Hoi economic zone. According to Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, the existing Quy Nhon City is surrounded by mountains on one side and the sea on the other with an area of less than 285km²; therefore, there is not enough space for a civilized and modern urban area to develop. Meanwhile, Quy Nhon has Thi Nai lagoon - a unique gift of nature that few urban areas in Vietnam have.
