The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has just issued Official Dispatch No. 702/DD-UPKP dated July 20, 2024 to the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of the provinces/cities of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh regarding ensuring the safety of fishermen and fishing vessels operating in dangerous areas.

According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on July 20, 2024, the center of the tropical depression was at about 15.8 degrees North latitude, 114.0 degrees East longitude, about 250km East Southeast of the Hoang Sa area with strong winds of level 7, gusting to level 9.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move northwest at a speed of about 15km/h, likely to strengthen into a storm, with wind intensity of level 8, gusting to level 10.

According to the report of the Border Guard Command, there are currently 326 ships/2,181 people (Quang Binh 6 ships/27 people, Quang Tri 48 ships/339 people, Da Nang 46 ships/387 people, Quang Nam 62 ships/496 people, Quang Ngai 138 ships/815 people, Binh Dinh 26 ships/117 people) operating in the North East Sea and Hoang Sa area (areas expected to be affected by tropical depressions and storms).
To ensure the safety of ships and boats and prevent unfortunate damage, the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control requests the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to advise the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct the implementation of a number of contents:
Direct relevant agencies and local authorities to check ships and boats in dangerous areas.
By all means, count, notify, call, and guide vehicles and boats to move out of the danger zone or to a shelter.
Regularly report implementation results to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control.
