Development of ethnic minority areas

Coming to Bac Tra My today, going to each village, we can see the changes in the lives of ethnic minorities. Living mainly on agriculture and forestry, the ethnic minorities here have gradually stabilized and developed along with the development of the locality.

Bac Tra My District Party Committee issued many programs and plans to build the political system and orient socio-economic development.

In particular, reviewing, planning and arranging a team of prestigious and qualified key cadres into the apparatus of the government, the Front and socio-political organizations to lead and organize the implementation of the Party's policies and resolutions to the people of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the area.

Bac Tra My has taken advantage of resources from the policies of the Central and the province implemented in the district to improve the effectiveness of poverty reduction, build and renovate infrastructure, and develop OCOP products among the people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh - Secretary of Bac Tra My District Party Committee said: "With many policies and investment mechanisms, the economic, social and cultural life in the district's ethnic minority areas is basically stable. The economy still mainly relies on agricultural and forestry production, but has connected product consumption and developed towards commodities.

Essential infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, and stations have been gradually completed and basically meet the needs of serving the people. The awareness of preserving national cultural identity has been maintained and promoted by ethnic minorities. Many ethnic minority households have boldly invested in developing their household economy and escaped poverty.

Focus investment resources

Bac Tra My district is receiving total investment from programs to develop mountainous areas. In the period of 2021 - 2024, the locality has a total capital source for sustainable poverty reduction programs of more than 223.9 billion VND, new rural areas of more than 612 billion VND, and socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of more than 200 billion VND.

Mr. Thai Hoang Vu - Chairman of Bac Tra My District People's Committee said that local development resources are integrated and invested from people's livelihoods, resettlement, to completing infrastructure, education, health, culture...

People have been proactive in renovating and building houses, helping each other develop the economy, improving production efficiency... Thereby, contributing to helping localities achieve the goals of improving the lives of ethnic minorities.

After sustainable poverty reduction is building a new life, up to now, 3/12 communes have met new rural standards, no commune has met less than 12 criteria.

Policies such as loans for poor ethnic minority households, support for prestigious people in ethnic minority areas, tuition support, health insurance... are fully implemented by the district, gradually improving the lives of ethnic minority people in the district.

According to Mr. ALang Mai - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, Bac Tra My is a mountainous locality with the most diverse ethnic minority groups in the province. The exchange contributes to enriching the ethnic cultural identity here. The lives of ethnic minorities in general and those in Bac Tra My district in particular have been cared for by the policies of the Party and the State, so they have gradually improved significantly.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan said that strengthening the great national unity bloc will become the sharpest weapon to fight against the distorted arguments of hostile forces. Therefore, the congress is an opportunity to honor and affirm the role of ethnic minorities in the development of the homeland. From there, gather the strength of the great national unity of each region to compete, promote intelligence to overcome difficulties, and contribute to the common development.

Bac Tra My district has a total population of 48,488 people (11,612 households), including 26,813 ethnic minorities (6,345 households) with 27 ethnic groups, including Xe Dang (Ca Dong) 40.2%, Co 11.24%, Mo Nong 1.83%, and other ethnic minorities accounting for 2.02% (Thai, Tay, Nung, Muong, Hre, Co Tu, Cham...). Of which, the Xe Dang (Ca Dong), Co, and Mo Nong ethnic groups are indigenous.

The residential terrain of ethnic minorities is mainly concentrated in 10 communes: Tra Ka, Tra Giap, Tra Giac, Tra Bui, Tra Doc, Tra Tan, Tra Son, Tra Giang, Tra Nu, Tra Kot.
