The industry commander's comments are an idea for the group of reporters to implement.
Journalist Luu Ngan - representative of the group of authors shared: Thai Binh is a key province in agricultural production in the Red River Delta region, therefore, agriculture - farmers - rural areas are always the top priority in the propaganda orientation of Thai Binh Newspaper.
Land accumulation and concentration is an inevitable trend of agricultural production that is taking place strongly in localities. Not outside of that trend, Thai Binh agriculture is transforming from the land accumulation and concentration movement thanks to farmers who "dare to think, dare to do" and the encouragement, motivation and attention from support mechanisms and policies. Previously, Thai Binh Newspaper also had many series of articles reflecting the reality of farmers being bored with their fields and abandoning their fields; the trend and effectiveness of land accumulation and concentration, and there were also works that won national and industry press awards.
Some images and videos are smoothly combined in the work.
During a visit to Thai Binh, when visiting and talking with the "big farmers" of Thai Binh, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan was surprised, not thinking that with the fragmented and scattered land conditions, different from the rice granary of the Mekong Delta in his hometown, there were still many "big farmers" accumulating and concentrating land with a scale of tens of hectares. The Minister assessed that the Big Farmer Club of Thai Binh is a new way of thinking. Localities need to create spaces for farmers to nurture ideas, themes, and creativity in agriculture.
“And the industry commander's comment became an idea for the Thai Binh Newspaper reporter group to carry out the topic "Big fields build big fields " - journalist Luu Ngan emphasized.
Exploiting the two issues “First and only”…
Sharing about the journey of work, Luu Ngan said: When doing the series of articles, the group of reporters delved into two "first and only" issues in Thai Binh, which are the Dai Dien Club and the mechanism and policies of Thai Binh province on land accumulation and concentration. Reflecting the uniqueness in Thai Binh but also the reality of land accumulation and concentration in many localities across the country today when the legal framework, specifically the Land Law, has not been amended to keep up with the changes in agriculture.
The series of articles depicting the portraits of new farmers is also the voice of the "big farmers" of Thai Binh, farmers across the country, expressing their thoughts and aspirations in the change of the 2013 Land Law, untying the land limit... And for the series of articles to be most effective, the group of reporters also proposed and was approved by the Editorial Board, investing elaborately, creating Longform articles, 4 members will divide the specific tasks: 2 people do the content and photos, 1 person film, edit and 1 designer to carry out 5 episodes with multimedia including videos combined with images, graphics...
Journalist Luu Ngan at work.
Having set up such a scenario for information deployment, Luu Ngan and his colleagues were surprised by one thing after another when they met people who “think big, do big”. Journalist Luu Ngan confided: Having the opportunity to talk and listen to the “big farmers” share their feelings, we admire more those who dare to think, dare to do, are not afraid of difficulties, are afraid of hardships, and invest their efforts and capital in the fields like the owner of the garment enterprise Nguyen Cong Toi in Thuy Thanh commune (Thai Thuy).
Mr. Toi has invested all his accumulated capital from more than 10 years as a garment enterprise director into buying machinery, implementing 100% mechanization from tilling machines, plows, transplanters, harvesters, pesticide sprayers, seedling tray sowing machines to rice dryers; coordinating with local authorities to rent and borrow people's fields to dig and build canal systems, renovate fields to produce commercial rice and organic rice. Just like that, the thought of "farming is good, but building houses is not enough" has urged him to continue to "embrace" all the local fallow agricultural land with a total area of up to 50 hectares...
Or like Mr. Dao Trong Huyen - Hiep Hoa commune (Vu Thu) gave up 18 years of working as a bridge engineer with a high, stable salary to pursue agriculture with "zero" experience and knowledge; Ms. Tran Thi Lanh - Binh Minh commune (Kien Xuong) from borrowing a few sao, her love and passion for agriculture led her to expand and develop to become a "big landowner" with nearly 100 hectares of rented and borrowed fields.
Having spent his whole life working on the fields like Mr. Do Van Dan, Vu Quy commune (Kien Xuong), we see the "proactive" mindset in this genuine farmer when he was a pioneer in land accumulation, but during the booming period, he proactively "let go of the fields" so that young big farmers had the opportunity to expand production while he stepped back to provide logistics services such as rice transplanters, tray seedling, agricultural product purchasing, preliminary processing, processing... bringing in billions of dong in income each year.
“In addition to the summaries and reports of the specialized sectors (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Natural Resources and Environment), the main material that creates the series of articles is the sharing and thoughts of the “big farmers”. There are characters - farmers who are too “familiar” with the press, but having time to listen to them open their hearts, we seem to break out many things, and then from that listening, we see tears, choked moments when they recall the difficult times, about today's achievements...
A memorable memory for the group of reporters when interviewing a young man with a passion for agriculture. Accumulating one of the largest scale in the district, but when standing in front of the camera, he was like a "chicken with its hair caught" even though before that, he sat and talked, exploited the information that he shared with his heart, the interview was only over 20 seconds but had to be pressed more or less ten times... " - Luu Ngan recounted.
Memories and valuable documents cannot be obtained through quick meetings and inquiries. Although Dai Dien Thai Binh initially “thought big, did big”, in the end, they were still farmers who collected fields because of their love and regret for their fields, very few of them were trained in schools.
“Each farmer, each large plantation has a different way of doing things, but in general, we see in them a fundamental change in their perception of agriculture when they have large enough means of production in their hands, are the owners of their fields to decide what to grow and what to raise; produce according to signals, needs, even market orientation, not based on experience…” - Luu Ngan emphasized.
