After a long battle with illness, Ms. Huynh Ngoc Lien breathed her last at 11am on November 29th and was cremated in Ben Tre on the afternoon of November 30th. This is sad news not only for badminton in Ho Chi Minh City but also for the whole country.
During her lifetime, Ms. Huynh Ngoc Lien made many contributions to bringing Vietnamese badminton to the international level. She repeatedly connected with leaders and sponsors to invest in Nguyen Tien Minh to compete internationally.

At his peak, Tien Minh defeated Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei and entered the top 5 best male tennis players in the world. Minh's success was greatly supported by Ms. Huynh Ngoc Lien, who mobilized sponsorship and even spent her own money to send Minh abroad to train and compete.
Not only helping Tien Minh, Ms. Lien also supports many other Vietnamese badminton athletes in many international tournaments.
Ms. Huynh Ngoc Lien has also established good relationships with the World Badminton Federation, the Asian Badminton Federation, and is a pioneer in training international referees for Vietnamese badminton. Thanks to that, Vietnamese badminton now has many qualified referees, running the world's leading badminton tournaments.
Even after withdrawing from the role of vice president of the Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Federation, Ms. Lien still regularly consults and helps the federation in difficult times.
