In 1989, after completing his military service and returning to his hometown, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hao (An Dong block, Tien Ky town) actively participated in economic development.
Mr. Hao shared that he lives near Dong Chua reservoir and saw that he could raise fish under the dam, so he discussed with his wife and children about bidding on the dam to invest in raising fish and opening a food and beverage service right next to it.
At the same time, the family also borrowed capital from the Social Policy Bank to invest in renovating the garden to grow fruit trees and build a pig breeding farm.
Thanks to his hard work, Mr. Hao's family earns an average of 200 million VND per year from economic development activities. He also guided and helped members of the Veterans Association of Tien Ky town and villagers build 8 economic development models.
The Association of War Veterans in Tien Phuoc District has 85 branches with about 2,000 members participating in activities. In the period of 2019 - 2024, the emulation movement "Exemplary War Veterans" in Tien Phuoc continues to be promoted with many practical activities. 1,360 members have borrowed capital from the Transaction Office of the District Social Policy Bank, with a total outstanding debt of more than 76 billion VND, creating jobs for 1,487 workers, and 27 member households have escaped poverty thanks to this capital source.
The association also mobilized revolving capital to help each other develop the economy with a total amount of 13.5 billion VND. At the same time, the association at all levels actively coordinated to organize training courses, support agricultural techniques and implement Project 03 of Tien Phuoc district and Resolution 35 of the Provincial People's Council on developing garden economy and farm economy.
In 5 years, 363 members have been mobilized to implement Project 03 and Resolution 35, receiving more than 5 billion VND in support from the State. The District Veterans Association has 27 production and business models owned by veteran members...
Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Tien Phuoc district said: "The Association of War Veterans not only strives to develop the economy but also shows the spirit of solidarity, mutual support and helps members in difficult circumstances. The Association has visited and presented thousands of gifts to families of war veterans in difficult circumstances, war invalids, sick soldiers, children of members who have overcome difficulties to study well as well as supported the construction of "Comradely Love" houses.
From 2019 to now, the association has mobilized members to contribute, combined with their families and other sources, to help eliminate 4 temporary houses for members. Currently, there are no more members living in temporary or dilapidated houses. In particular, the District Veterans Association will practically support the remaining 5 poor member households to escape poverty sustainably in the coming time."
