Let's talk about "warmth and peace" together

After more than two decades of operation, the Cultural Family Club of Zone 7, An Binh Ward, Ninh Kieu District has become a big home for small families. In each meeting, members sit together and discuss how to make the streets civilized and modern. The saying “neighbors, when the lights go out” is very meaningful in this club.

March 2025 meeting of Cultural Family Club, Region 7.

“Dear compatriots, on these days, 50 years ago, our army and people liberated Quang Tri. The Central Highlands Campaign, the Ho Chi Minh Campaign… are about to begin”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc, Secretary, Head of the region and also Head of the Cultural Family Club of Region 7, said at the meeting. Following that, Ms. Cuc informed about the activities of the whole country, Can Tho City preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, the reunification of the country; and information about holidays and anniversaries in March such as International Women's Day March 8, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Founding Day March 26, etc.

Then, Mrs. Cuc reported on the recent local situation, the measles and dengue fever epidemics; the story of raising money to build bridges; the story of sorting garbage and dumping garbage in the right place... The meeting became more and more exciting, everyone shared their opinions and thoughts, with the hope that the village would become more and more spacious and beautiful. Especially ideas such as not burning garbage because it is hot and sunny, it is easy for fire to spread; the story of not dumping garbage at the right time and place spoils the beauty of the streets... the people were very pleased and supportive. When the head of the meeting shared that they had mobilized 20 bags of cement and needed a small amount of money to renovate the bridge and culvert near Mr. Ba Dinh's house in Rau Ram canal, the people also highly agreed.

Just like that, it was past 8pm but Mr. Bui Van Hau's (Hai Hau) house in Rau Ram canal was still bustling with the activities of the Cultural Family Club. Mr. Hai Hau said that for more than 5 years, the club has moved to his house to operate and he is very willing. Each activity is very useful and fun and according to him: "Every now and then, the neighbors sit together to drink coffee and talk, which is also fun". Obviously, in the context of urbanization that makes the community lifestyle seem to be "distanced" further, the fact that people in area 7 still maintain the "night light off" lifestyle is truly admirable.

The Cultural Family Club of Region 7 was established more than 20 years ago, currently has about 30 members, meeting on the 20th of every month. Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc said that the club meets regularly and effectively, becoming a useful propaganda channel in implementing local policies and guidelines. For example, removing curbs and raising roads on some routes; or almost no longer throwing garbage into the river... these are clear changes from the locality's persistent advocacy, which is integrated into each club meeting. Most of the members are elderly people, after being informed, they will return to convey and remind their children and grandchildren to follow suit.

The most obvious example is the road along Rau Ram canal, in area 7, with many famous tourist attractions, especially Sau Hoai Noodle Soup Factory. The road creates an impression because every house has colorful and clean ornamental flowers, whether they do tourism or not. Everyone tells each other that tourists from all over the country and many foreigners come to their neighborhood, passing by their house to visit, so beautifying their house and neighborhood is also a way to promote the image of their homeland and country.

Thanks to the activities of the Cultural Family Club, the neighborhood relationship among the people has become increasingly close. On International Women's Day, March 8, and many other holidays and anniversaries throughout the year, the Club organizes cooking and performing arts. Many members of the Club are also members of the health care and folk dance teams, so they are even closer together. Ms. Le Thi Huyen, a member of the Cultural Family Club, said: "The neighborhood relationship in the area is truly wonderful. In addition to discussing building happy families and beautifying the neighborhood, we are very united and close to each other."

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, every month, Region 7 organized cooking to give to people in difficult circumstances, relatives taking care of the sick in hospitals... After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cultural Family Club together with the region, organizations such as Women, Red Cross... implemented a 0-VND clothing stall with the motto "Whoever has extra, give - whoever needs, receive", currently maintaining effective operations. The stall is located at Mr. Hai Hau's house in Rau Ram canal, a few dozen meters past Lo Hu Tieu Sau Hoai.
