Hung King Temple in Can Tho City wins National Architecture Award

According to the Vietnam Association of Architects, this year the Award received 239 entries. The Award Council selected and decided to award prizes to outstanding works and projects. Specifically, the National Architecture Award Council 2024-2025 awarded 1 Grand Prize, 5 Gold Prizes, 12 Silver Prizes, 35 Bronze Prizes and 1 Prize for the work most loved and voted by the community. At the same time, it awarded Certificates of Merit to units with many achievements at the Award and awarded the "For the Development of Architecture" Prize.

The Grand Prize was awarded to the Vietnam Military History Museum by the architects: Hiroshi Miyakawa, Trinh Viet A, Michio Oizumi, Nguyen Dinh Dong, Gen Sugiyama - Nikken Sekkei LTD. Notably, among the 5 Gold prizes, there is an award honoring the Reconstruction of the two areas of Lang Nu and Nam Tong (Lao Cai) by the authors: Hoang Thuc Hao, Nguyen Xuan Ngoc, Vu Xuan Son and associates - 1+1>2 International Construction Architecture Joint Stock Company.

Can Tho City has 2 works that won the Bronze Prize of the National Architecture Award 2024-2025. That is the Hung King Temple project in Can Tho City, public architecture category, by the group of architects Nguyen Thanh Tai, Nguyen Duc Thinh, Vu Dinh Dung and Ly Let - Institute of Construction Planning, Department of Construction of Can Tho City. The second work is "Can Tho House" by architect Nguyen Nho - AD9 Architects Office, residential architecture category.

The Hung Kings Temple in Can Tho City was started in June 2019 and inaugurated on April 6, 2022. The temple was built on an area of ​​over 39,000m2, including the following items: Main Temple, main gate, ceremonial gate, stele house... In which, the Main Temple stands out with the stylized bronze drum image. 18 arcs surrounding the Main Temple symbolize the 18 Hung Kings. Each arc is decorated simulating the motifs on the Dong Son bronze drum.

The National Architecture Award is organized and awarded every two years by the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The award is among the official awards of the State, specializing in the field of architecture, and is the basis for the State to consider and award the Ho Chi Minh Award and the State Award in the field of Literature and Arts.
