In fact, by the age of 45, many workers are no longer able to work at high intensity and require high precision in industrial production lines.
According to Mr. Duong, older workers are often the first target that businesses "target" when deciding to cut labor, and this can even be considered an "unwritten law".

"In reality, there are businesses that want to fire workers over 35 years old to recruit younger workers into the production line," Mr. Duong said.
The representative of Hanoi Trade Union warned that this could be a loophole for some businesses to "evade the law". Therefore, when businesses announce labor cuts, this unit suggests that they should consider the specific situation, in addition to factors such as general difficulties and recession leading to a lack of orders.
Previously, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sent an official dispatch responding to voters regarding the proposal to consider reducing the retirement age for direct workers.
The Ministry said that the pension regime, also known as the old-age regime, is one of the social insurance policies to ensure monthly income for workers when they reach retirement age.
According to the law on social insurance, to receive a monthly pension, employees must simultaneously meet two conditions: age and social insurance payment period.
This is to ensure harmony and balance between the contribution period and the social insurance benefit period of employees, thereby ensuring the balance and long-term sustainability of the fund.
The retirement age was discussed and unanimously approved in Resolution No. 28-NQ/TW dated May 23, 2018. Institutionalizing the policy of increasing the retirement age in Resolution No. 28-NQ/TW, the National Assembly unanimously issued the 2019 Labor Code. Articles 169 and 219 of the Code stipulate the retirement age and conditions for pension age.
The Ministry of Labor emphasized that the regulation to increase the retirement age or the conditions for pension age of employees will not be immediately increased to 62 years old for men and 60 years old for women, but will be adjusted according to the roadmap, each year increasing by only 3 months for male employees and 4 months for female employees.

In addition, the increase in retirement age also takes into account factors related to the nature, type of labor and health of workers, for workers doing particularly arduous, toxic, or dangerous jobs; working in arduous, toxic, or dangerous jobs; working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions or workers with poor health (reduced ability to work).
The above occupations can also retire at a lower age than those working in normal working conditions, 5 years or 10 years depending on the case.
In the coming time, based on proposals from ministries, branches and localities, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will continue to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to research and review to amend and supplement the list of arduous, toxic and dangerous occupations and jobs and especially arduous, toxic and dangerous occupations and jobs to ensure good implementation of regimes and policies for workers.
