A corner of Tra Vinh city
According to the Decision, recognizing the expanded Tra Vinh city, Tra Vinh province meets the criteria of a type II urban area. The scope of the expanded Tra Vinh city includes the entire administrative boundary of Tra Vinh city and part of Chau Thanh district (including the entire Hoa Thuan commune, Nguyet Hoa commune, the entire Tri Phong hamlet, Kinh Xang hamlet of Hoa Loi commune, the entire Ba Se A, Ba Se B, O Chich A, O Chich B hamlets of Luong Hoa commune), part of Cang Long district (including the entire Phuong Thanh commune, Dai Phuc commune, Dai Phuoc commune), with a total natural area of 163.37 km 2 .
The inner city area is expected to include the entire administrative boundaries of 05 existing wards of Tra Vinh city (including all wards: 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7), 02 expanded wards (including all wards: 8 and 9) and 01 commune expected to establish a ward (Nguyet Hoa commune), with a total natural area of 57.96 km2 .
The suburban area includes 05 communes (including Long Duc, Dai Phuoc, Dai Phuc, Phuong Thanh and Hoa Thuan communes), with a total natural area of 105.41 km2 .
This Decision comes into force from the date of signing and promulgation (March 28, 2025).
* Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg dated October 2, 2023 approving the Planning of Tra Vinh province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The general goal is that by 2030 Tra Vinh will be a province with average high development level, in the top group of the Mekong Delta region, with synchronous transport infrastructure, connecting the Mekong Delta region and the whole country; with a developed marine economy, adapting to climate change; cultural values of ethnic groups are preserved and promoted; people have a prosperous and happy life.
Specifically, in terms of economy, the average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is about 11.5%/year; in which the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increases by an average of 3.32%/year, the industry - construction sector increases by an average of 15.49%/year, and the trade - service sector increases by an average of 10.81%/year. Budget revenue in the area increases by an average of 12% to 15%/year.
In terms of society, by 2030, Tra Vinh will have an average population growth rate of 0.75%/year. The rate of trained workers will reach 75%; the rate of trained workers with degrees and certificates will reach 40% by 2030. Labor productivity will increase by an average of 11.65%/year. New jobs will be created for 30,000 workers each year. By 2030, Tra Vinh will strive to have about 73% of kindergartens, 89% of primary schools, 70% of secondary schools and 91% of high schools meeting national standards. Striving to have 35 hospital beds/10,000 people; 14-16 doctors/10,000 people.
