At the conference to review the information and communication work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications said that in the first 6 months of the year, the revenue of the information and communication industry reached about 2,067,389 billion VND (up 27% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 50% of the 2024 plan). The state budget contribution is estimated at 59,847 billion VND (up 25.8% over the same period last year and estimated to reach 61% of the 2024 plan).
Of which: the postal sector is estimated at VND 33,790 billion (up 22% over the same period in 2023); the telecommunications sector in the first quarter is estimated at VND 33,536.37 billion (up 2.27% over the same period last year); the network information security sector is estimated at VND 2,579 billion (up 20% over the same period in 2023) and the number of employees of enterprises in the network information security sector is about 3,900 employees (up 8.4% over the same period in 2023).
The total number of issued public digital certificates by the end of June 2024 reached 9,131,496 (an increase of 39.6% over the same period in 2023) and the total number of active public digital certificates by June 2024 was 3,270,251 (an increase of 46.4% over the same period in 2023).
Revenue from the ICT industry in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at VND 1,858,371 billion, up 27% compared to the first 6 months of 2023 and estimated to reach 49% of the 2024 plan.
Of which, the export turnover of hardware and electronics in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 1,753,071 billion VND, up 28.1% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 49.53% of the 2024 plan.
The number of digital technology enterprises is 50,350 operating enterprises, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 106% of the 2024 plan.
The Ministry of Information and Communications said that over the past 6 months, the Ministry has completed the proposal to develop the Law on Digital Technology Industry to include in the 2025 Law and Ordinance Development Program.
In June 2024, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 129/2024/QH15 on the Law and Ordinance Development Program for 2024, in which the draft Law on Digital Technology Industry is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly for comments at the 8th Session (October 2024).
To solve difficulties and problems, the Law on Digital Technology Industry was built, including regulations on AI application products; regulations on testing mechanisms for digital technology products and services; regulations on promoting the semiconductor microchip industry.
Along with that, complete the dossier and submit to the Prime Minister the Strategy for developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry to 2030 and vision to 2050. Develop a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry on supporting trade investment promotion and commercialization of Make in Vietnam digital technology products for domestic and foreign markets in the period of 2024-2026.
The Ministry also informed that, according to plan, in the last 6 months of the year, the dossier will be completed and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050...
