(CLO) On November 18, the People's Committee of Tan Son district (Phu Tho province) held a ceremony to announce and present the Decision to include in the list of national intangible cultural heritage "Traditional handicraft - brocade weaving of Muong ethnic people in Kim Thuong commune, Xuan Dai commune", recognized tourist attractions in Xuan Son commune and opened the district's Cultural and Sports Festival in 2024.
Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Propaganda Department of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee Vi Manh Hung acknowledged and praised the positive and proactive actions of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the efforts of the Party Committee and authorities of Tan Son district and the communes of Xuan Dai, Kim Thuong, Xuan Son as well as Xuan Son National Park and the support of businesses and organizations that have contributed to protecting and promoting the cultural heritage values of the district.
Head of the Propaganda Department of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee and leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho presented the Decision on recognizing provincial-level tourist attractions to representatives of the Party Committee and government of Xuan Son commune.
Head of the Propaganda Department of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee Vi Manh Hung requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with other sectors and Tan Son district, to urgently take specific measures to preserve and promote the values of cultural heritage, including linking cultural heritage with tourism development, creating new and unique tourism products of Tan Son district as well as the province to attract tourists and businesses, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
In particular, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province will support and give priority to establishments and households of traditional craft villages to invest in infrastructure and equipment to serve the development of traditional craft villages. Tan Son district continues to study and issue a Resolution on protecting and promoting the value of cultural heritage in the district in general, the national intangible cultural heritage of traditional craft "Brocade weaving" in particular, associated with tourism development.
The Head of the Propaganda Department of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee and the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho presented the certificate of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to put the brocade weaving craft of Muong people in Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes, Tan Son district into the list of national intangible heritage to the Party Committee, government and artisans of Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes.
At the ceremony, Head of the Propaganda Department of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee Vi Manh Hung and leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho presented the certificate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include the brocade weaving craft of Muong people in Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes, Tan Son district in the List of National Intangible Heritage to representatives of the Party Committee, government and artisans of Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes.
At the same time, Tan Son District People's Committee announced the Decision of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee on recognizing provincial-level tourist attractions including: Du village community tourism site, Coi village community eco-tourism site and Ngoc Waterfall eco-tourism site - Xuan Son commune.
Brocade weaving profession of Muong people in Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes, Tan Son district.
It is known that the traditional brocade weaving profession of the Muong ethnic group in Tan Son district was formed a long time ago, and until now still retains many traditional values, bearing the cultural characteristics of the Muong ethnic group.
In recent years, Phu Tho province has issued many mechanisms and policies to preserve and promote the values of typical traditional cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in general and the brocade weaving craft of the Muong people in Tan Son district in particular.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Tan Son district has issued specialized resolutions and plans to preserve and develop a number of unique cultural forms of ethnic minorities in the district, including brocade weaving, and at the same time focused on implementing many synchronous solutions to preserve and promote traditional cultural forms associated with tourism development, realizing the goal of "Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, creating momentum for sustainable socio-economic development, developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector".
The Muong brocade weaving craft in Xuan Dai and Kim Thuong communes has been decided by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be included in the List of National Intangible Heritage of Traditional Crafts under Decision No. 2322/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 9, 2024. Along with the Dao people's Cap Sac ceremony, the Muong brocade weaving craft is the second intangible heritage of Tan Son district to be included in the list of national intangible heritage.
