Police chase truck theft suspect through many routes

On the afternoon of September 19, the Investigation Police Agency of Lien Chieu District Police, Da Nang City, issued an emergency arrest warrant for Nguyen Ba Phong (31 years old, residing in Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City) for theft of property. The property that Phong stole was a local truck parked on the side of the road.

Previously, at around 8:00 a.m. on September 18, the Hoa Hiep Nam Ward Police, Lien Chieu District received a report from Mr. D.NT (32 years old, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District) about his truck being stolen while it was parked on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward.

Nguyen Ba Phong and the stolen vehicle

Mr. T. stated that due to the recent sluggishness of his trucking business, he left his vehicle at the above location from September 15. On the morning of September 18, when he went to check, the vehicle had disappeared.

Upon receiving the report, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward Police coordinated with Lien Chieu District Police to investigate and search and discovered that the truck was being driven by a young man on Nguyen Tat Thanh extended street, so they chased it.

Although the police force signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection, the suspect did not comply and continued to drive away, endangering other road users. The chase took place on many routes, when reaching the dirt road in Group 28, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, the Hoa Hiep Nam Ward Police force blocked the vehicle, stopped it and temporarily detained the driver.

At the police station, through the investigation, the suspect initially gave his name as Nguyen Ba Phong, and confessed that Phong saw an ownerless truck parked on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Da Nang Bay area, so he followed it for a few days before committing the theft at 5:00 a.m. on September 18.

Afterwards, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward Police handed over the truck theft suspect to the Lien Chieu District Police Investigation Agency for further investigation and handling according to authority.
