Using their expertise, the police have dismantled a ring of illegal drug trafficking, counterfeit money production and illegal storage of military weapons and explosives led by a woman.
On the afternoon of August 1, at the headquarters of District 6 Police (HCMC), Major General Mai Hoang, Deputy Director of HCMC Police, presented the commendation decision of the Director of HCMC Police to units with outstanding achievements in dismantling the illegal drug trafficking ring; manufacturing and circulating counterfeit money and illegal storage of military weapons and explosives led by Phan Thao Diem Nhi (born in 1994, residing in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province).
Previously, based on information from Task Force 363 of District 5 Police about a suspect using illegal drugs at Phu Lam Park, District 6 Police expanded their investigation to arrest Nhi and 10 other suspects. In addition, the police discovered and seized 4 counterfeit bills worth 500,000 VND from Le Phan Huy.
Huy admitted to producing counterfeit money. Investigation results determined that Nhi's group illegally bought, sold, and transported drugs from Laos to Vietnam; police seized more than 13.5 kg of drugs, 1 grenade, 1 pistol, and 12 bullets; printers, laminators, laptops; 6 counterfeit bills worth 500,000 VND and 2 counterfeit USD bills worth 50 USD.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Mai Hoang, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, acknowledged and commended the achievements of District 6 Police, District 5 Police, Working Group 363 of District 5 Police; Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04) and Criminal Techniques Department (PC09) of Ho Chi Minh City Police in breaking up the ring led by Nhi.
