(Dan Tri) - A poor woman who lost her savings of several months while going to the Tet market in Quang Tri received lucky money and help from benefactors totaling more than 100 million VND.
On January 29, Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh, Chief of Vinh Thai Commune Police, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province, said that on New Year's Eve, philanthropists donated more than 100 million VND to help Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (residing in Tan Mach village, Vinh Thai commune).
The money was sent to Ms. Hoa after the story of her losing 1.5 million VND while shopping for Tet went viral on social media. This is the amount of money Ms. Hoa had saved for 2 months.
According to Captain Minh, all the money from the benefactors has been transferred to Ms. Hoa by Vinh Thai Commune Police. The list of benefactors will be made public when the bank reopens.
Previously, on the afternoon of January 27, a resident of Vinh Thai commune picked up 1.5 million VND and brought it to the commune police headquarters to report and ask them to return it to the owner.
Vinh Thai Commune Police identified Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa as the owner of the money and brought her to her house to return it. There, the authorities learned about Ms. Hoa’s extremely difficult circumstances. The poor woman lived with her sick, bedridden aunt.
The story of Ms. Hoa's lost money and difficult circumstances was shared by Vinh Thai Commune Police on social networks, attracting great attention from the community.
