Co To 'says no to plastic waste'

On the evening of April 1, at the square in front of the special national relic of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site on Co To Island, the opening ceremony of Co To Tourism 2023 took place.

At the opening ceremony, the People's Committee of Co To district announced new tourism products and tourist beaches in the district; performed special art performances introducing the friendly and hospitable land and people of Co To.

Notably, at the program, Co To district has broadcast videos and publications with the message "say no to plastic waste to develop sustainable tourism". Accordingly, businesses and local people join hands to reduce plastic waste right from the source. In particular, they will encourage tourists not to bring plastic items to the island.

In 2023, Co To district put 2 new beaches (Hong Van, Ba Chau) into operation and is expected to officially put coral diving products into operation in the second quarter, associated with marine ecosystem conservation activities.

In addition to scuba diving, Co To is also expected to offer camping tourism products to tourists this summer. That is, a 2-3 hectare space on Ba Chau beach will be used as a night camping area.

Not only that, this summer, Co To is also attractive, with many experiences with sea and island tourism being focused on forming such as: visiting 4 big islands of Co To - Thanh Lan - Co To con - Ca Chep; organizing tourism programs to visit, watch the sunrise, take photos at Mong Rong rock beach, Truc Lam Co To pagoda; visiting, watching the sunset on the sea; building a walking street associated with typical seafood cuisine...

According to the People's Committee of Co To District, to prepare for the new tourist season 2023, the locality has started with a plan to organize a series of promotional and stimulus activities with 15 attractive events and sports - cultural activities lasting from now until the end of the year. These include attracting tourists to the island to participate in the Half Marathon through the most beautiful landscapes and beaches of Co To; culinary contest, exhibition of Co To pine trees; the celebration of the 62nd anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to the island...

This summer, when coming to Co To, tourists will have the opportunity to experience Co To tourism in a very special way: "Automatic tour guide". This is a way to anticipate the 4.0 tourism trend, deployed at the special national relic of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site on Co To Island from the beginning of January 2023.

Currently, Co To has nearly 200 accommodation establishments with 3,000 rooms; including 46 1-3 star hotels, with over 1,200 rooms, ensuring to serve 10,000 guests/day. In 2023, Co To district is expected to welcome 300,000 guests, with revenue of 600 billion VND.
