Within the framework of the 53rd Annual SGATAR Summit held in Seoul, Korea from October 29-31, 2024, Director General of the General Department of Taxation Mai Xuan Thanh had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Kang Min Soo - Director General of the National Tax Service of Korea.

Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh emphasized that the SGATAR Annual Summit is a very important and meaningful international activity in the region. The 53rd conference was organized professionally and respectfully by the National Tax Service of Korea.

Mr. Kang Min Soo - Director General of the National Tax Service of Korea said that Vietnam and Korea currently have an important comprehensive cooperative relationship.

“The two countries' senior leaders also agreed to make efforts to achieve bilateral trade turnover of 150 billion USD by 2030. In order to further promote economic and investment relations between businesses of the two countries, cooperation between the two tax agencies needs to be prioritized," Mr. Kang Min Soo shared.

At the meeting, Mr. Thanh invited Mr. Kang Min Soo to visit and work in Vietnam as soon as possible. Within the framework of the bilateral cooperation agreement signed between the tax authorities of the two countries, the two sides also promoted the continuation of visits and work at the local tax department level, exchanging topics on tax management experience at the grassroots level.

“We appreciate the assistance, support and experience sharing in the tax field of the Korean National Tax Service to the Vietnamese Tax Agency. On this occasion, I would like to request that Korea support the Vietnamese Tax Agency in mentioning to KOICA organization to support funding for upgrading the information technology system and hope that the Korean National Tax Service will support sharing on human resource management and design ideas to upgrade the information technology system for Vietnam," Mr. Thanh proposed at the meeting.

In the friendly, open and promising atmosphere of expanding and enhancing future cooperation between the tax agencies of Vietnam and Korea, Mr. Thanh said that the discussion contents were very important in the tax cooperation relationship between the General Department of Taxation of Vietnam and the National Tax Agency of Korea in the past time, as well as in the following years.
