Should I install Windows on my MacBook?

Advantages of installing Windows on Macbook

Disadvantages of installing Windows on Macbook

While Macbook Air and Macbook Pro are quite compatible with Windows operating system, Macbook Retina runs poorly with Windows operating system.

Macbook running Windows operating system will be much hotter than Mac OS operating system, which means the fan has to spin fast to ensure heat dissipation, while Macbook running Mac OS rarely has the fan spinning fast.

Therefore, if a Macbook installs Windows operating system and is used for a long time, the lifespan of the machine's components will easily decrease.

Macbooks using Windows operating system will have significantly reduced battery life. For example, Macbook Pro 2016 15 can use battery for about 7 hours, but if Windows is installed, the battery life will only be 4-5 hours.

This battery drain phenomenon comes from the reason that the cooling fan runs stronger, in addition, it could be because this operating system is not optimized for the hardware, causing the CPU to work more.

Some special features on Macbook will not work if Windows is installed (for example Touch ID – Windows will notify that it is not supported).

The MacBook trackpad (an extremely important part) is highly appreciated for its multitasking and smoothness. However, if you install Windows on the MacBook, this is no longer true.

If you buy a Macbook and want to install Windows just because you are not familiar with Mac OS, you should not. Mac OS was released for Macbook – it will be more compatible with the machine and has many advantages over Windows (high compatibility, does not hang often…)

If you need to use Windows on Macbook for work, you should install it (the weakness of Mac OS is that the application store is not as complete as Windows), but you should not use it for a long time.

If you spend too much time on Windows, it's best to invest in a Windows laptop to ensure the experience.
