(Dan Tri) - With more than 20 years of working in education in the mountainous district of Quang Tri, Ms. Tran Thi Chau not only does her teaching job well, but every night she also works hard to sew clothes and pants to give to her students.

Ms. Tran Thi Chau (born in 1975), is a teacher at Ky Tang School, A Xing Kindergarten, Lia Commune, Huong Hoa District (Quang Tri), has more than 20 years of experience working with ethnic minority students of Pa Ko and Van Kieu.

Ms. Chau was born into a poor family in Cam Lo district (Quang Tri). Since childhood, she had cherished the dream of becoming a teacher. Due to her circumstances, after completing high school, Ms. Chau applied to work at Huong Hoa Rubber Plantation.

When she got married and had a husband who was a teacher, Ms. Chau was motivated and decided to take the entrance exam to Quang Tri Pedagogical College to continue her dream.

In 2002, after graduating from the teacher training school, Ms. Chau worked as a contract teacher at many schools in Huong Hoa district such as A Xing Primary School and Tan Long Kindergarten.

In 2007, A Xing Kindergarten was established, Ms. Chau was officially recruited and has been with the school until now.

"Teaching in the mountains has many difficulties, people's lives are still difficult so students also lack many things. We teachers in the mountains always try our best every day to bring the best things to our students," Ms. Chau shared.

Every evening after class, Ms. Chau works hard at the sewing machine, cutting and measuring fabric, and sewing clothes for her students (Photo: Nhat Anh).

During her years teaching at A Xing Kindergarten, Ms. Chau volunteered to go to the most difficult schools to care for and teach children. To be close to the children and impart knowledge in the best way, Ms. Chau also learned the ethnic language and used two languages in teaching.

Not only is she good at her profession, Ms. Chau always tries to bring love to her students as well as the local people. For many years, Ms. Chau has been in class during the day and at night she has been busy sewing clothes to give to her students and their parents.

"When I first went to the mountains, it was cold. I saw that the people did not have warm clothes, the children were wearing thin clothes, following their mothers to the fields. I felt sorry for them. I know how to cut and sew, so I spent time sewing clothes to give to the people and students," Ms. Chau recalled.

Every time she goes to the district market and finds cheap, unsold fabric, Ms. Chau spends her own money to buy it, asks for extra fabric from stores, and uses it to cut and sew. Large fabrics to make clothes, small fabrics to make scarves, the products from kindergarten teacher Tran Thi Chau are always in the hands of ethnic people and students, helping them not to suffer from the cold when winter comes.

"Doing anything for students, even the smallest thing, makes me happy. The happiest thing is when I put on the shirt I just made for the students and receive thanks in return. The children being warm and happy to go to school is a great motivation for me to continue making clothes for the past 20 years," Ms. Chau confided.

Ms. Chau is the only preschool teacher in Quang Tri province to receive this title, this is a great achievement that she has worked hard and dedicated to over the years.

"Previously, Ms. Chau also performed her teaching duties very well at many other disadvantaged schools of A Xing Kindergarten and received the title of grassroots emulation fighter many times, contributing initiatives to develop the local educational environment," said Ms. Nga.
