HCMC Creative ideas need to be supported by businesses to become reality, help achieve growth goals, and apply them to life to serve society.
The message was shared by Mr. Tran Van Tung, Standing Member of the Steering Committee of Project 844, former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology at the event summarizing and orienting the activities of the Social Impact Village and Design Thinking Village, within the framework of the National Innovation Festival (Techfest) 2023 held in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of November 23.
According to Mr. Tung, for a startup, the process of formation, growth and development must go through many steps. This type of business is not a pure project but develops based on creative ideas, with the ability to grow dozens, even hundreds of times.
He cited an example, two weeks ago, an inventor came up with a solution to bring hundreds of people on the upper floors of apartment buildings and high-rise buildings down to the ground in just a few minutes when a fire broke out. When contacting this inventor, international investors negotiated the value of the idea up to billions of VND. "This is only the negotiation level for the idea, not including the development of machinery, equipment, and operating models for this technology," Mr. Tung said about the value of the creative idea. After negotiating with all parties, this inventor was introduced to a large domestic corporation, negotiating the purchase of the idea, and implementing the application in buildings. This project has also attracted the interest of many other businesses.
From this story, Mr. Tung believes that in reality, Vietnamese people have great creative ideas. Inventors need the support of society and the companionship of businesses that are ready to help them realize their ideas. He hopes that this model will be increasingly spread by the attention of businesses like the story above, helping inventions to develop into startups, turning ideas into products serving life.

Mr. Tung said that there are currently about 34 technology villages in many fields with the role of supporting the Vietnamese innovative startup ecosystem. This is an initiative proposed by startups, consultants, and people operating in the ecosystem on a voluntary basis, helping to support Vietnamese creative ideas to develop, expand, and become startups in the future. "The Ministry of Science and Technology strongly supports this model and will continue to support the development of the domestic startup ecosystem," he said. Currently, the Ministry of Science and Technology is building national innovation startup support organizations in the three regions of North - Central - South. Localities and mass organizations are gradually forming these centers to support startups.
According to Mr. Tran Xuan Dich, Deputy Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises (Ministry of Science and Technology), in recent years, through a series of Techfest events with increasingly large scale, the participation of technology villages has increased, demonstrating the interest of the startup community and the development of an increasingly large-scale ecosystem. "I hope that the startup community will always seek new and creative things to help develop a strong ecosystem," said Mr. Dich.
Dr. Duong Thi Kim Lien, Head of the Social Impact Village, said that in 2023, the unit will organize 15 workshops and 3 startup competitions with many activities to support startup projects. Each competition alone has more than 120 startup groups participating. Outstanding projects will be trained by Korean partners for 2 weeks, supported by consultants, and co-working space for 6 months... Projects will also be supported to connect and find investors to develop in the next phase. "We always aim to bring valuable ideas to investors and accompany projects to support many resources to help develop an innovative startup ecosystem," said Ms. Lien.
