With the goal of becoming a national energy industry group and aiming for sustainable development, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) always prioritizes digital transformation (DCT). This is also a "new driving force" that not only helps Petrovietnam develop sustainably but also creates breakthroughs in all aspects of its operations.
Petrovietnam officially operates ERP system from May 2024
In the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution taking place strongly, the application of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain has been creating positive and profound changes in many fields, including oil and gas and energy.
Recently, Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated April 24, 2024 of the Politburo oriented "developing the Oil and Gas industry quickly, sustainably, synchronously, and effectively" and "developing the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to become a national energy industry group associated with development, improving operational efficiency in traditional energy fields; participating in the value chain of new energy, renewable energy, especially offshore wind power, coastal wind power, hydrogen, ammonia, import supply chain, LNG trading, manufacturing energy equipment".
To realize this orientation, the Oil and Gas industry in general and Petrovietnam in particular need to focus on promoting digital transformation, "urgently building an Oil and Gas industry database and research and innovation centers in large-scale oil and gas enterprises" according to the orientation of Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW.
Recognizing the strategic significance and importance of digital transformation for the sustainable development of enterprises, Petrovietnam has identified digital transformation as a must for the Group and has actively implemented it over the past years.
The Party Committee of the Group has issued a Resolution, with projects, plans, and directions from the Board of Directors, the General Director of the Group, and the units and the Group are continuing to perfect and implement digital transformation work to have a plan to deploy, implement, and achieve the best results to create a new business model.
In recent times, to meet the goals and requirements of digital transformation, the Group has also built a digital vision of "Digital transformation supports and promotes the process of shifting business models, optimizing operating methods and improving operational management capacity across the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group".
The Group's leaders have given many instructions on the implementation of digital transformation, closely following the digital transformation strategy according to the roadmap for the period 2022-2026. Especially from 2026 onwards, 100% of units in Petrovietnam will aim to complete digital transformation and operate production and business activities on a digital technology platform. Complete the process of building a digital ecosystem (PVN DigiEcoSystem) throughout the Group, especially in the oil and gas and energy sectors.
In early May 2024, Petrovietnam officially operated the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System for the Parent Company - Phase 1 of the Group. According to Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son, the successful implementation of the ERP System contributed to helping the Group improve its management and operation capacity, and optimize financial management. This is also a key, core digital initiative that plays a leading role for Petrovietnam, a milestone in the Group's digital transformation roadmap as well as creating a premise for Petrovietnam to implement subsequent digital initiatives.
In addition to the parent company, Petrovietnam's member units have also actively deployed and accelerated the digital transformation process to optimize production and business activities, improve customer experience, and enhance competitiveness. Typically, the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture has deployed the ERP system, the SVODKA VSP Operation Monitoring Center, collecting and transmitting technological data from offshore works to shore in real time. PV Power also equipped an online monitoring center for power plant operations, an electronic operation log system for power plants (e-logbook)... PVCFC has deployed the ERP system, the EPMS production management system, and many applications such as 2Nong, CRM-omni, Anh Hai Ca Mau... The positive results in digital transformation have contributed to helping oil and gas enterprises improve the efficiency of management, reduce operating costs, and bring economic efficiency.
With the motto "Accelerating digital transformation", Petrovietnam and its units have been actively developing and updating the digital transformation strategy associated with the production and business strategy of the Group as well as each unit. Promoting the restructuring and innovation of operating models, management and converting business models from traditional to digital environment. Specialized database construction projects are being implemented with preparation work, technology platforms and security are being enhanced and maintained and continuously improved.
In addition, another important task is to form a digital culture in Petrovietnam, promote innovation, promote cooperation, encourage open thinking and continuous learning. The Group's leaders also require officers, leaders and employees in the entire Petrovietnam system to continue to raise awareness, reach a common consensus in implementing digital transformation, and apply digital solutions in the Group's activities in general and in each unit in particular to ensure efficiency, synchronization, unity and continuity throughout the entire Petrovietnam system.
Through the transformation of awareness, mindset as well as the application of digital technology, digital platforms, improving management and operation efficiency and shifting business models will be the "new driving forces" for Petrovietnam to develop more sustainably and strongly in the coming time.
“Petrovietnam cannot “miss the train”. Petrovietnam needs to be aware that the environment and resources are changing at a dizzying speed, we must survive and develop regardless of how it happens. The first industrial revolution allowed humans to master mechanical power, the following revolutions allowed humans to master and exploit the power of electrical energy. In the era of digital transformation, the transformation based on digital technology “we will master the power of the mind”, that is the power of creativity, innovation and no limits”.
