On October 22, a source from Tuoi Tre Online reported that the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee agreed with the proposal of the provincial Department of Health to transfer the case file of the illegal clinic with a fake doctor at 75 Nguyen Tat Thanh (Pleiku City) to the investigation agency.
Accordingly, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Health and the Pleiku City People's Committee to direct functional forces to investigate and handle the law violations of this clinic and report the results to the Provincial People's Committee.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on September 30, the Gia Lai Provincial Health Department Inspector made a surprise inspection at the "HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy Clinic" on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.
At the time of the inspection, the authorities discovered a young man wearing a white blouse examining a customer. Through investigation, the young man claimed his name was Vo Minh Chien (28 years old) but pretended to be Dr. Vo Minh Thanh to consult and treat people's veins.
Chien said he followed the instructions of the facility’s owner, Ms. Le Thi Thanh, to treat his veins with sclerotherapy and high-frequency laser. This young man said he majored in culture and had no medical-related degree or practice certificate.
After the inspection, the Health Department Inspector issued an invitation to the facility owner, Ms. Le Thi Thanh, to come to work, but after the deadline, Ms. Thanh still did not come to work with the authorities.
When reporters contacted Ms. Thanh's phone number provided by Mr. Vo Minh Chien to the inspection team, a woman answered the phone, but denied any involvement in the incident and hung up.
In response to this incident, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health has filed a case against the clinic for violating medical examination and treatment activities, using people pretending to be doctors to examine and treat patients.
Since being discovered, this facility has stopped operating, removed its sign and moved its furniture elsewhere.
