In New Delhi, on the evening of May 16 (local time), Vietnam Airlines and three partners, Vietravel, VinGroup, SunGroup and Indian travel agencies, held a joint ceremony to launch the Vietnam destination in the capital city of New Delhi.

Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai delivered the opening speech at the event to launch Vietnam's destination in New Delhi.

The parties will cooperate in promoting Vietnam and India tourism in both countries, and organize events, festivals, and tourism fairs to effectively exploit Vietnam Airlines' flight routes and tourism products of the units.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai, General Director of Vietnam Airlines Le Hong Ha, leaders of partners of the two countries, and hundreds of guests and local and international reporters.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai said that Vietnam and India are connected by cultural and civilizational ties. The two countries have always supported each other in the struggle for independence in the last century and in the cause of national development today. Now, the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership is growing stronger in many fields. The Ambassador emphasized that people-to-people connection is a factor that greatly contributes to this cooperative relationship.

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai also expressed his belief that the more Vietnamese and Indian people visit each other’s country, the more opportunities there will be for bilateral business, trade and investment. The Ambassador appreciated the contribution of all the above companies in attracting more Indians to Vietnam and vice versa.

The Ambassador said that to facilitate travel between the two countries, Vietnam has been making efforts to establish direct flights and facilitate the visa application process. Currently, e-visas are available to all Indians for a period of 3 months and multiple entries.

Delegates attending the event joined hands to launch Vietnam destination in the capital New Delhi.

Also at the conference, Vietnam Airlines General Director Le Hong Ha said that Vietnam Airlines always considers India an important market thanks to its advantage of having the largest population in the world, being a country in the process of strong development and especially between Vietnam and India having a good friendly relationship for over 50 years. According to him, although the capacity of the Vietnam - India air transport market in 2023 has reached 900 thousand passengers, nearly 3 times higher than the same period in 2019, it is still not commensurate with the above advantages.

Mr. Le Hong Ha said that since the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and India in June 2022, Vietnam Airlines has transported more than 240,000 passengers. The seat utilization rate has always been high (nearly 80% in 2024, 1.5 times higher than in 2022). This demonstrates the growing travel demand of tourists and businessmen between the two countries.

According to a survey by travel companies, Indian tourists prefer short-haul destinations in Southeast Asia and new destinations such as Vietnam - a country that boasts diverse natural landscapes, a climate that allows year-round tourism, a long-standing culture with world-class heritage sites spread across the country. In addition, Vietnam also attracts Indian tourists thanks to its rich cuisine and diverse types of tourism such as beach tourism, eco-tourism, golf tourism, resorts, and exploration...
