Many people taking metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) ask if they can bring their bicycles on the train? If not, where can they leave their bicycles?

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online about this issue, a representative of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (the operator) said that according to current regulations, people are not allowed to bring vehicles and items for personal travel needs such as folding bicycles, balance bikes, scooters, and skateboards onto metro train No. 1.

However, the operating unit recorded opinions on people's needs and updated the regulations to suit the safety of urban railway operations.

During the first days of official operation, the number of passengers on the train was quite large, averaging approximately 95,000 passengers per day (more than 467,000/5 days). Therefore, prioritizing seats for people to experience is necessary and the safety factor for everyone on the train is always the top priority.

In the coming time, regulations on bringing bicycles (foldable models) on trains will be calculated and adjusted based on actual needs and people's opinions.

In addition, luggage brought on board must be of moderate size, neatly packed and must not obstruct the aisle. Metro encourages people to use compact luggage for convenient travel.

Metro always aims to create the most favorable conditions for passengers, including people with disabilities, the elderly and families with young children. Therefore, at the aisles and elevators, there are always priority lanes for wheelchairs and strollers, and metro staff are ready to assist when needed.

Although bicycles are not allowed on Metro Line 1 at this time, people can park them in 10 parking lots (with a capacity of about 500 motorbikes) below the elevated stations and additional parking lots at Van Thanh, Thao Dien, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, and Binh Thai stations. Particularly, the Suoi Tien station area (in front of the new Mien Dong bus station) can take advantage of the additional parking lot of this bus station.

Take public bike to metro station number 1

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center, in addition to using private vehicles and buses, people can get to Metro Line 1 stations by public bicycles. There are currently 43 stations, including 3 locations near Quach Thi Trang construction site on Ham Nghi, Le Loi and Le Lai streets.

The Center has coordinated with relevant agencies and units to conduct surveys to add 84 bicycle stations in districts 1, 3, 4, 5, and 10. The Department of Transport has issued a list of 37 additional locations in districts 1 and 4. At the same time, it is reviewing proposals to add public bicycle stations connecting metro station No. 1.
