According to regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on July 10, the Department will announce the 10th grade benchmark scores for 114 public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year. At that time, high schools will receive admission applications from students according to the admission list.
However, in the past 2 days, some students and parents unexpectedly received text messages announcing their admission to grade 10 at public high schools.
Specifically, parents of students in Tan Phu District and neighboring areas received a text message via phone with the following content: "Notification of admission to Tan Binh High School. Congratulations to NQC, born on October 23, 2008, hometown in Hanoi. We would like to inform you that you have passed the entrance exam for grade 10 in the 2023-2024 school year. Please submit your application to the school from July 10 and the deadline for submitting your application is August 1. The application submission location is at 19 Hoa Bang Street, Tan Son Nhi Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City".

In addition, parents of students at Nguyen Van Bua Secondary School (Hoc Mon District) also received a similar message, informing them that their children "have been admitted to the public 10th grade of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. Notice of admission before June 30 at 259 Le Van Khuong, Hiep Thanh Ward, District 12".
Responding to the above information, Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Principal of Tan Binh High School, said that the school also knew about the fake text messages and reported it to the Department of Education and Training.
Mr. Dung affirmed that only when the Department of Education and Training announced the public 10th grade benchmark scores on July 10, would the school officially notify the successful students about submitting their admission applications.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, said that the Department had received information about the above incident and had taken specific steps to handle it.
According to Mr. Minh, the Department of Education and Training has requested the Department of Education and Training of Tan Phu District, Hoc Mon District and other localities to review and direct secondary schools on ensuring data information of 9th grade students.
At the same time, the Department of Education and Training reported the incident to the Ho Chi Minh City Police to coordinate in reviewing and handling it promptly to ensure the confidentiality of student data. The Department of Education and Training requested the police to verify, clarify and handle it in accordance with the provisions of law.
In addition, Mr. Minh noted that the Department of Education and Training has provided very detailed instructions on the timeline and time of announcing the 10th grade benchmark scores. Parents and students need to be extremely alert to avoid being taken advantage of by scammers.
Important dates to note about admission 10
According to the plan, immediately after the exam scores were announced on June 20, candidates had the right to submit an application for a review of their exam results at the secondary schools (where they had previously studied) until 11:00 a.m. on June 23.
On June 24, the Department of Education and Training will announce the benchmark scores for grade 10 schools, specialized classes, integrated classes, and direct admission candidates. The results of the exam review will be announced on June 30.
The 10th grade benchmark scores of 114 public high schools will be announced on July 10.
From July 11 to August 1, successful candidates will submit their admission application to the high school they were admitted to. If after 4:00 p.m. on August 1, successful candidates do not submit their admission application, their names will be removed from the school's admission list.
