On the afternoon of September 7, Mr. Nguyen Si Hai - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanh Duc Commune, Nghia Hanh District, Quang Ngai - said: "After receiving information that the 6-year-old child still did not have a birth certificate, the school refused to accept him into grade 1. The People's Committee of the commune confirmed that the child is a local and old enough to go to school. I also stood as a guarantor for Hanh Duc Primary School to accept the child. The birth certificate will be supplemented later."
Commune Chairman: "My child is in first grade, I feel like a burden has been lifted"
Mr. Hai said that since receiving the information, the commune immediately took action to ensure the right to go to school for NTT (6 years old). On September 6, the child went to class like his friends, Mr. Hai and the People's Committee of Hanh Duc commune were very happy.
“When my child goes to school, I feel like a burden has been lifted from my heart. These past few days, I have been continuously talking with Ms. NTTV, T.’s mother, to quickly complete the birth certificate procedure. Because not only will he be able to go to school, but many of his other rights such as health insurance, health care, etc. will also be completed,” said Mr. Hai.
According to Mr. Hai, the child's family is in difficulty, Ms. V. works all day, so the commune officials and police continuously monitor and support. In addition, the commune People's Committee also requested the school and the commune judiciary to review and report if similar incidents are discovered. Proactively handle them early, to prevent similar cases from happening.
Mr. Tang Ngoc Thien - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Hanh district - said that since receiving the information, he requested the principal of Hanh Duc Primary School to accept T. to go to school. There is no reason to refuse to accept the child.
“Yesterday, I watched him go to class and write his first letters like other friends, and I felt relieved. Thank you, Hanh Duc commune authorities, for handling the situation quickly and promptly, ensuring all of his rights to go to school,” said Mr. Thien.

The baby's mother apologized and thanked him.
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online published an article titled “After attending the opening ceremony, the child could not enter first grade because he did not have a birth certificate”, reflecting that although NTT was of school age, he was not accepted because he did not have a birth certificate.
This is the fault of T.'s mother. Although Hanh Duc Primary School was right not to accept the child, the school was also at fault when the situation arose and did not have a written report to the superiors to find a solution for the child to go to school.
Immediately after learning about the incident, the Department of Education and Training of Nghia Hanh district and the People's Committee of Hanh Duc commune immediately took action to resolve the matter. After one day of handling the matter, T. returned to school. The family will complete and supplement other procedures later.
Ms. NT.TV (T.'s mother) said she was very happy that her child could go to school. She also apologized to the authorities and the school for letting the incident happen.
“It is my fault that my 6-year-old child does not have a birth certificate. I apologize to all of you. At the same time, I would like to thank everyone who has joined hands to help my child go to school. I am currently completing the procedures for my child,” said Ms. V.
