National Assembly Chairman meets with Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad

On the afternoon of December 21, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad to attend the 32nd Diplomatic Conference.

The National Assembly Chairman met with Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad.

Attending the meeting were Secretary General, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong, Head of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha, representatives of the Nationalities Council and leaders of the National Assembly's Committees. On the Ministry of Foreign Affairs side, there were Minister Bui Thanh Son, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leaders of units within the Ministry, along with 109 heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and nominated heads of representative agencies.

Reporting to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the 32nd Diplomatic Conference is of great significance, pivotal in successfully implementing the tasks of the 13th Party Congress.

This conference has gone into depth, focusing on assessing the real situation of the world and the region, the results of foreign affairs since the 31st Diplomatic Conference (2021) up to now; at the same time, clarifying the opportunities and challenges facing the country, as well as the diplomatic sector; thereby, determining the requirements, goals and tasks of foreign affairs in the coming time.

The National Assembly Chairman said that during this term, the National Assembly has decided on many important national issues regarding foreign affairs, proactively approved the accession to or termination of the validity of international treaties to which Vietnam is a member, ensuring compliance with the Party's guidelines and the State's laws; supervised the implementation of international treaties, creating momentum for the country's strong development and faster and more effective integration.

Exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, delegations through the Party channel, and the National Assembly channel with many partners have taken place with high frequency to learn about the experience of the National Assembly's supervision work and law-making. Vietnam has proactively hosted many major multilateral events, including the 14th AIPA Caucus, activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of AIPA, the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference, as well as other frameworks such as APPF, IPU, and the Francophone Parliamentary Union, actively proposing many initiatives on narrowing the development gap, responding to climate change, energy security and water resources.
