Tomorrow morning (December 23), in Hanoi, Cong Thuong Newspaper will organize the Forum 'Ministry of Industry and Trade: Fighting waste, unlocking development resources'.
Implementing the direction of General Secretary To Lam on immediately deploying key and breakthrough tasks in preventing and combating waste, creating a widespread impression throughout society; focusing on extensive propaganda, raising awareness and responsibility among cadres, party members and workers on combating waste; Official Dispatch No. 168-HD/BTGTW dated September 23, 2024 of the Central Propaganda Department, aiming to promote propaganda work, spread positive information about the direction and organization of drastic implementation of waste prevention and combat, removing bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies; Implementing the direction of the Minister of Industry and Trade, on December 23, 2024, the Industry and Trade Newspaper organized the Forum "Ministry of Industry and Trade: Combating waste, unlocking development resources".

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hai Binh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee - Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine, Dr. Phan Duc Hieu - Standing Member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - Economic expert will chair the Forum.
The forum had the participation of speakers: Dr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Head of Department of Localities I - Central Internal Affairs Committee; Mr. Nguyen Huu Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, Smuggling; Mr. Ngo Duc Minh - Head of the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade; representative of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN); representative of PetroVietnam Gas Corporation - PVGAS)...
The forum will have two sessions. Session 1 : "Marxism - Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought and the General Secretary's message on anti-waste". Session 2: "The Industry and Trade sector combats waste and removes bottlenecks for breakthroughs in the new era" focuses on exchanging and discussing waste identification, sharing practical, domestic and international experiences in waste prevention; proposing solutions to combat waste, and unlocking resources.
As a multi-sector economic ministry, the Party Committee, leaders and civil servants of the Ministry of Industry and Trade not only closely follow and comply with the Central Committee's instructions on economic development of the sector but also have a deep understanding of the viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought; the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies on thrift and waste prevention. At the same time, this is considered a regular, continuous and extremely important task of the sector to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of direction and administration, contributing to creating resources for socio-economic development.
Every year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issues and effectively implements the Program on practicing thrift and combating waste. In particular, it directs units within the ministry and enterprises in the industry to thoroughly grasp and implement it, while at the same time promoting communication to raise awareness of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in thrift and waste prevention.
According to the Program on practicing thrift and combating waste in the period of 2021-2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requires strengthening the sense of responsibility for practicing thrift and combating waste in corporations, companies, administrative and public service units, cadres, civil servants and public employees under the Ministry; clearly defining the responsibilities of leaders in practicing thrift and combating waste in units; strictly handling acts causing loss and waste; as a basis for evaluating the performance of units, individuals, cadres, civil servants and public employees. Thereby, many positive results have been achieved.
In particular, in 2024, under the close and drastic direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the timely and effective coordination of the ministries, central departments, branches and localities, the Industry and Trade sector has proactively and actively implemented synchronously, drastically and effectively solutions according to assigned functions and tasks and achieved many positive and comprehensive results in all aspects of work, making important contributions to the common achievements of the whole country, contributing to fighting waste and unlocking resources for development.
In 2024, the Ministry has also proactively and resolutely "refined, compact, and strengthened" the apparatus in the spirit of summarizing Resolution 18, proposing to streamline nearly 18% of the number of focal points of units under the Ministry and strongly streamline the operating apparatus from within.
Despite initial results, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has determined that it must continue to promote thrift practice and combat waste. Through the organization of the Forum, the Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes to contribute to thoroughly grasping and spreading the strong and innovative instructions and messages of General Secretary To Lam on combating waste; at the same time, helping the Ministry of Industry and Trade in particular and ministries, branches and localities in general to continue to perfect mechanisms and policies, improve efficiency in waste prevention and combat, contributing to the implementation of socio-economic development goals in the coming time.
