In recent days, many groups and professional athletes from all over the country have gathered in Phu Yen to practice and prepare for the race.

Many athletes say that Phu Yen has a wide running route, majestic landscapes and a cool climate. However, during training, teams and athletes encounter many “half-laughing, half-crying” situations with dogs and cats roaming free.

Dogs roaming freely in Tuy Hoa City Park (Phu Yen) have caused many athletes to have difficulty during training.

Mr. Mai Quy Phong (21 years old, an athlete from Quang Binh province) said that on the morning of March 22, while practicing in the area of Vo Thi Sau Street (Phu Dong Ward, Tuy Hoa City), he was suddenly chased by a loose dog.

Being chased by a stray dog while practicing affected Mr. Phong's mental state. The male athlete was also worried and even had to take a break from competing for a while if an accident happened.

Ms. Pham Huynh Yen Thu (athlete from Phu Yen province) was also chased by a stray dog during training.

" There are many stray dogs on some roads in Phu Yen. When I was running, I was suddenly chased by a dog. If I don't handle it in time, I can easily get injured. Dogs even defecate on the road, which greatly affects my training," said the female athlete.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Anh, of the national track and field team at the Da Nang National Sports Training Center, said the track in Phu Yen is very beautiful and convenient for athletes.

However, the organizers need to consider situations that may occur on the track and have a plan to ensure the safety of athletes during the competition.

" In the case of dogs running loose on the road chasing athletes, it will distract the athletes, lose concentration and affect their tactics and performance " - Coach Tuan Anh said.

The leader of Tuy Hoa City Police said that the city has issued an official dispatch directing localities to absolutely not let dogs roam freely on the streets to ensure the safety of athletes as well as tourists attending the 2024 National Marathon Championship.

" We have given strong instructions on the management of pets, absolutely prohibiting dogs and cats from roaming the streets. In the coming time, we will continue to strengthen the handling of cases of non-compliance and violations of regulations on the management of dogs and cats, " affirmed a representative of the Tuy Hoa City Police Department.

On March 31, the 2024 National Marathon Championship (Tien Phong Marathon 2024) will take place in Phu Yen province, with the participation of nearly 12,000 athletes nationwide.

This is considered a special event, starting a series of major events of the province, an opportunity for Phu Yen province to promote its economic and tourism development potential, as well as the image of Phu Yen's nature and people to all regions of the country.

Along with the series of events, Phu Yen will organize many activities, including: Fairs, trade promotion, culture and art to serve domestic and foreign tourists, creating momentum for economic, trade and tourism development of the province.
