Mobilizing billions to support 2,600 candidates
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Le Duy Dinh - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province - said that this activity has been maintained by the province in recent years to support disadvantaged candidates.
Before the exam took place, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee directed the People's Committees of districts to mobilize social resources to support candidates residing in the area.
The children receiving support are ethnic minorities, in difficult circumstances, and living in remote areas of the province.
Mr. Dinh said that for this year's high school graduation exam, districts mobilized 1.08 billion VND to support more than 2,600 candidates.

Accordingly, depending on the mobilized funds, each candidate will receive an average support of 500,000 VND. Some districts mobilized higher support levels for candidates in the area at 800,000 - 1.2 million VND/student.
The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province said that this is a practical source of encouragement for students from difficult circumstances to confidently take the high school graduation exam. This amount of money will be given directly to students and parents to cover the cost of food and travel for the students during the 3 days of the exam.
Candidates are happy to receive government support money
Candidate Thoay, a Ba Na ethnic in Kon Chieng commune, Mang Yang district, said that on the morning of June 26, before leaving for town to take the exam, the commune People's Committee called him up to support his travel expenses.

In addition to the support of 400,000 VND from Mang Yang District People's Committee, Thoay also received an additional 400,000 VND in support from Kon Chieng Commune People's Committee.
The female student was overjoyed when she held the money in her hand, saying that this was enough for 3 days of food, accommodation, and travel to take the exam. This source of support also gave Thoay more motivation to be confident when taking the test.
Also from noon on June 26, candidate Ngan Duy Chien, a Thai ethnic in Kon Thup commune, carried a backpack towards the exam site in Kon Dong town, Mang Yang district.
Chien, an orphan, was supported by the government with 500,000 VND to cover food and drink for the days of taking the exam outside town. Chien said he was very touched when the government at all levels encouraged him with money before taking the exam.

When Chien was 7 years old, his mother passed away from leukemia. When he was in 11th grade, his father passed away after an accident while fishing in the Ayun River.
With their parents gone, Chien and his 10th grade brother depend on each other. Sympathizing with their difficult situation, after their father passed away, the school called for help to give Chien and his brother 100 million VND as capital.
Knowing that his difficult circumstances would not allow him to attend university, Chien planned to enroll in vocational training after graduation to go to work early to support his younger brother's education.
Mr. Son said that this year the school has 34 candidates from the Ba Na, Tay, Nung, Thai ethnic groups... who are supported by the District People's Committee with expenses for the exam. In addition, depending on the conditions, the People's Committees of the communes where the candidates reside also provide additional support for the students' travel expenses.
