On the evening of January 13, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife hosted a party hosted by the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to welcome the Diplomatic Corps on the occasion of the New Year 2025 and to prepare for the traditional Tet At Ty 2025.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that 2024 was a challenging year. However, amidst the “headwinds”, peace, cooperation and development are still the main currents, the thread that connects us all, the core common values that all nations strive for. For Vietnam, 2024 is a year of the spirit of overcoming difficulties and the desire to rise up; Vietnam has achieved a GDP growth rate of over 7% and continues to be a safe and attractive destination for international investment and tourism.

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the Prime Minister sincerely thanks fraternal countries, international friends, partners, ambassadors, heads of international organizations and through you to the governments, peoples of countries and international organizations who have placed their trust in and given Vietnam close and effective cooperation and valuable support over the past time.
The Prime Minister said that entering the new year 2025, Vietnam is full of aspirations and determination to enter a new era - the era of rising up, developing richly, civilizedly, and prosperously for the nation. Right from 2025, Vietnam sets a growth target of about 8% and double digits if conditions are favorable, creating momentum, creating force, creating rhythm to achieve double-digit growth in the following years.
To realize that aspiration, Vietnam firmly adheres to a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, multilateralization, being a good friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community for the goal of peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
On that journey, Vietnam hopes to continue receiving support, assistance and close cooperation from international friends, including ambassadors and heads of international organizations, to develop the friendship and cooperation between the two sides to become increasingly strong, profound, substantive and effective.
Ho Chi Minh City leaders meet with consuls general and chief representatives of international organizations
On the occasion of the beginning of 2025 and preparation for the Lunar New Year, on the evening of January 13, the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a meeting with the Consul General, heads of international organizations, economic - cultural offices, and business associations of countries and territories in Ho Chi Minh City. Attending were comrades: Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Ngoc Hai.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai reviewed the achievements in many aspects of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024. Comrade Phan Van Mai affirmed that the outstanding achievements of Ho Chi Minh City were created by the combined strength of the Party Committee, government and people of the city, bearing the mark of international cooperation. On this occasion, Comrade Phan Van Mai respectfully thanked representatives of consular agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, business associations and international friends for sharing and making many important contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City.
Comrade Phan Van Mai said that in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote and effectively and substantially implement the Strategy to Enhance Ho Chi Minh City's Foreign Affairs to 2030, with a vision to 2045; promote economic diplomacy on the basis of effectively utilizing the specific mechanisms and policies of Resolution 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly. In particular, in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will organize many large and important celebrations. To effectively implement the above contents, in addition to internal strength, Ho Chi Minh City really needs the support of international friends and partners, through active bridges such as consular delegations, economic - trade - cultural offices, international organizations, and foreign business associations in the city.
