Vice President Kamala Harris has raised more than $1 billion in fundraising since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee in July, according to US media reports.
While Harris’s campaign has yet to release exact figures, sources familiar with the matter, cited by the New York Times and NBC News, have confirmed that her fundraising has surpassed the $1 billion mark. That includes money sent to her campaign as well as to Democratic Party committees.
Harris's deep pockets will likely fuel her advertising and campaign activity in battleground states ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
The fundraising spree has allowed Harris to outspend her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, in the final stretch of a tight race.

In August, Mr. Trump and the Republicans raised $130 million, bringing their total cash to $295 million compared with $404 million for Ms. Harris and the Democrats.
Ms. Harris also surpassed Mr. Trump's September fundraising total of $160 million, after raising $72 million from three events late in the month, according to the New York Times.
Republicans, however, are regaining the initiative through super PACs, organizations that can pool unlimited amounts of money for candidates without directly coordinating with their campaigns.
So far in the 2024 election cycle, the largest super PAC backing Mr. Trump has outspent the largest super PAC backing Ms. Harris by tens of millions of dollars, according to OpenSecrets, a nonprofit focused on campaign finance and transparency.
