Sharing information at the regular press conference in April 2024, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that this is also an opportunity for us to honor typical collectives and individuals in publishing activities, developing reading culture on media, newspapers, technology platforms, and social networks to widely spread the value of books and reading culture in the community.

On the basis of mobilizing social resources, the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is organized in a diverse and rich way, combining traditional activities with modern organization methods following the development trend of technology platforms and digital transformation such as: Direct book fair; Online book fair on technology platforms; Direct book fair combined with online; Book fair with non-cash payment; exchanging accumulated reward points of customers at some commercial banks for gifts in the form of books; combining communication and promotion of books and reading culture on electronic newspaper columns and social networks.
The series of activities of the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024, with the messages: "Good books need readers"; "Precious books for friends"; "Give good books - Buy real books"; "Good books: Eyes to read - Ears to listen" will be held throughout April 2024, focusing from April 17, 2024 to May 1, 2024 with the main events including:
1. Opening ceremony of the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day
The Opening Ceremony of the Second Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day will be held at 7:00 p.m. on April 17, 2024 at the Temple of Literature (58 Quoc Tu Giam Street, Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi).
The Opening Ceremony was elaborately staged, combined with unique cultural and artistic performances, broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television and online on the platforms of local Radio and Television Stations.
2. Exhibition and Book Fair to celebrate the Third Vietnamese Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024
Within the framework of the Opening Ceremony, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, the Department of External Information, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports (Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam) to organize an exhibition of valuable books about the special national historical relic of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam; photos and books about the country and people of Vietnam on modern electronic versions and direct publications. It is expected that about 60 units will participate, displaying, introducing and providing readers with over 40,000 valuable books.
3. Online Exhibition and Book Fair serving overseas Vietnamese
In response to the Third Vietnamese Book and Reading Culture Day in 2024, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution in coordination with the Department of External Information and publishers and relevant agencies organized an Online Book Exhibition and Fair on the national digital platform vietnam.vn (from April 15 to 30, 2024) with the theme "Good books find readers" to serve Vietnamese people abroad and international friends.
4. Organizing the Launching Ceremony of Youth Reading Day
In order to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, especially the reading movement among the young generation, create a favorable reading environment, form reading habits in families, schools, agencies, organizations, contributing to building a learning society, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with units to organize the Launching Ceremony of Reading Day for Youth to celebrate the Third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 on April 19, 2024 at the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.
