Recently, the event "Run For Millions - Run for millions of dogs and cats" ended with impressive numbers recorded: 16,462 people participated and 2,650,893 km of distance ran, equivalent to 66 times around the earth, or 3 round trips to the Moon.
This is the first online running event to raise awareness and call on people to show their support for ending the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam.
With the message "Every step is a hope", the event is completely free, and participants can choose to run or walk with distances of 42km, 60km, 100km, 150km and 200km within 6 months.
Each individual's running or walking progress will be recorded after each completion and accumulated over the 6 months of the race.
Ms. Phan Thanh Dung, Campaign Officer in Southeast Asia of FOUR PAWS shared: “We are very grateful for everyone’s contributions to the event. I hope everyone will continue to accompany FOUR PAWS in upcoming events and campaigns, for a Vietnam that says no to the dog and cat meat trade!”.
The impressive numbers achieved from the online running event "Run for Millions - Run for millions of dogs and cats" once again demonstrate the increase in public awareness of animal welfare as well as the widespread support from all walks of life for ending the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam.
Previously, from December 2021 to July 2022, FOUR PAWS launched the campaign "This is not Vietnam" to call for Vietnamese people's opposition to the dog and cat meat trade.
The campaign attracted more than 33,000 people sending messages to the Deputy Prime Minister, 24,000 international tourists sending letters to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and 13,500 people worldwide sending digital postcards to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism petitioning to end the cruel trade .
