According to Dan Tri reporter's records at 8:30 p.m. on January 10, the fire on Co Tien mountain (about 150 meters from the foot of the mountain) was raging fiercely, with a tendency to continue spreading to the east.
From above, the fire is estimated to stretch for several kilometers, lighting up a large area.

The weather in Nha Trang tonight is dry, with strong winds blowing from west to east, causing the fire to continue to flare up.
According to Nha Trang Forest Protection Department, the fire at Co Tien Mountain was discovered at around 4:40 p.m. the same day. The area where the fire occurred is located in the planned production forest land, currently covered with cogon grass and reeds.
Fire prevention and rescue police force of Nha Trang City Police are approaching the scene to find a way to contain and handle the fire.

That same evening, authorities arrived and brought 12 people who had camped overnight on the mountain down safely, while some other tourists left on their own. The authorities are continuing to check on residents and tourists still in the area of Co Tien Mountain.
Mr. Nguyen Van An, who lives at the foot of Co Tien Mountain, said that large fires often occur in this area, due to the high and dangerous terrain, making firefighting extremely difficult.
